No for real!!

Y’all should watch “ Inside the Episode “ after each segment. It will explain all your questions regarding that episode.

Kevin Frazier

I almost can’t believe Mair didn’t read Fire and Blood because he is SPOT ON about what Lyonel said about Jahaerys and how you’re either a Tywin (not the best father but a good leader) or Viserys (well-liked but not the best King). Jahaerys was not a good father, especially to his daughters, but he was a great King.

Halima

I never thought about it from the POV you guys mentioned in the discussion. Assuming Viserys always knew he’d remarry eventually, he made a rash decision in naming Rhaenyra heir just to spite Daemon. He gave her that honour knowing (or ignoring) that when he eventually has a son with his new wife it would be a problem. Imo if he wanted Rhaenyra’s claim to stay uncontested, he never should’ve remarried OR stayed unmarried until everyone was used to her as heir.

Halima

It’s crazy how the situation in the stepstones mirrors the issue of Viserys’ succession. Viserys was told that Daemon and Corlys were losing the war against the crab feeder and he ignored it for 3 whole years. Now he’s being told that a lot of the Lords expect him to name Aegon as heir over Rhaenyra and he’s ignoring it. He deffo has good intentions, but is not a very good king. I see why everyone’s always advising him, he’s not very proactive.

Halima

When you think about it, Viserys is kinda nasty at worst, or incredibly oblivious at best. Even when you ignore the fact that he chose someone the same age as his daughter to marry, he knew Rhaenyra was grieving her mother and he chose to take away her only friend. And then was somehow surprised that she was mad about it 🤦🏾‍♀️

Halima

I’m so glad you guys went back when you were confused about the whole Aegon stuff! I’d always rather you guys go back if you feel like you missed an important piece of dialogue than stay confused the rest of the reaction

Messy Work. Messy boots the House Down!! Lol Yall had me cracking up! Your assessment of Viserys is absolutely Correct. He is a decent person but a bad King. Too easily swayed. The way he had to practically be begged by Alicent to send aid to Daemon & Corlys is absolutely ridiculous!

The “Inside the Episode” segment after this episode addressed all the questions you guys had.

Sivan

Viserys made a point to Rhaenyra in the previous episode that with her as his only heir, it would be too easy for their line to end. If she died, and didn’t any have siblings (or children of her own yet), Damon would become King. It’s the King’s duty to have as many children as possible, but, like Rhaenyra said, the smartest thing politically would have for been for him to have those children with Laena Velaryon.
