2023-07-08 07:14:46 +0000 UTCSeasons 1-5 are based off the 5 written books by George R.R. Martin. There are meant to be 7 books in the series but the last two are still being written. Shireen is alive and well by the end of that 5th book (published in 2011). The tv show has taken liberties with deaths this season that may or may not happen in the books yet published if they ever are completed. Whilst Season 6,7 & 8 are visually appealing with lots of shock value entertainment, it is very noticeable that the quality of story telling, characters and direction can no longer be hidden behind source material. I look so forward to you two watching the Season 5 finale 😊
