What Sam showed Gilly was the Dragonglass dagger that he found at the Fist of the First Men, not Valyrian steel.

2023-04-25 15:10:16 +0000 UTCI think you missed a part of the "conversation" Theon had with his captor. Theon would have won the game if he guessed right who he was. He guessed he was a Karstark. His captor initially said that Theon was right, but then he said he is a liar, which means his first answer was a lie. So Theon lost the game and his finger. We don't really know who his captor is at this point, but he is probably not a Karstark.
