Geez, can Will Smith ever catch a break?

His partner, Jada Pinkett Smith, revealed they have been separated since 2016.

If that’s the case, then what was the whole deal with Will slapping Chris Rock last year and asking him to keep his wife’s name out of his damn mouth?

Well, as it turns out, they’re still technically married, but have been living separately since 2016 and as such work together as a family unit but not a romantic one.

It’s pretty clear Will is absolutely stressed out regarding his relationships, and the online masses have been absolutely ravenous for any and all news regarding his personal issues.

I guess part of what makes all this so exciting for people is the fact that Will and Jada cultivated this image of a happy family for so long, with little tell of any scandals or bad behaviour.

However, in the past few years, all of this seems to have crumbled into dust as they reveal what’s really been going on.

I have to say though, despite Jaden Smith being a bit weird during his teen years, he does seem to have mellowed out as evidenced by his appearance on the Eric Andre Show.

Jada’s memoir is set to release in a week from now, so perhaps this bit of spicy drama has been strategically leaked to drum up sales.

Or perhaps it’s just another blip on the track record of a heavily scrutinized celebrity family.

After all, celebrity relationships are yet another heavily marketed circus expected to be pushed 24/7.

In our world of constant obsession and parasocial relationships regarding famous people, many are all too keen to pay top dollar to discover their favourite actor’s every move.

Hence, instead of people just saying “oh, they haven’t been living together? Who cares, this doesn’t affect me in the slightest”, we get dangerously obsessive pieces and timelines consistently covering Will Smith’s life and romantic relationships.

Memes like Will throwing open his arms toward Jada spread because they represent an ideal relationship, but the truth is that no relationship can be as perfect as those captured on television.

I suppose many of the cracks began showing when Jada and Will had their round table discussions, especially when Jada mentioned she had an affair.

In truth, it’s all just so entirely bizarre yet comprises much of today’s media culture, as celebrities are put so high onto pedestals that when they show regular human flaws, that are honestly quite boring, the world tends to erupt into panic.
