My editing has been slowed recently (trying to stockpile reactions for the new music channel and I also picked up a new teaching job one day a week) but soon I will be in a normal schedule and uploads will be regular again. Lots of full reactions coming soon and many awesome uploads to follow!!!!!!!! Thanks for hanging in there with me!!!! Things are crazy, but they're also crazy good!!!

I've got another one for you: I just watched your reactiion to 'Godfather'. You've *got* to watch Godfather II, many consider it even better than the first and one of the greatest movies of all time. When I watched it I thought detected some familiar music, but I wasn't quite on the mark. I know you can explain: https://youtu.be/rEHsOyPgmEo?si=sFs9ly3p5OQ8xux9

Hi! And thank you! I just took a listen and compared and WOW you are correct! Bernstein is WAAAYYYYY slower. He took it 8th note = 70 while Marriner was at 100. That is quite a difference!! In all of my times playing or hearing this requiem I think it was around 85-100. I don't think I have ever heard it as slow as Bernstein's! So why in the world did he do this?? My guess is the venue. I have sung in a choir in that very church in Prague and I remember it being quite resonant and we had to take the tempo down for a few pieces and tone down the vibrato or it would all turn to mud in the acoustics. But then why didn't he slow down other spots?? Hmmm. And then there is the tempo marking -- it's Larghetto which technically means 60-69. So that means even Bernstein is too fast for what Mozart intended???? This is all very thought provoking. Feel free to let me know your idea for this!

Hi Christina, just found your channels tonight and watched your reaction to 'Amadeus' (I'm a big classical fan). Your reaction to that great scene of Mozart dictating Confutatis to Salieri reminded me of a great recording of it by Bernstein that I wanted to share with you and get your impression. His tempo for Lacrimosa is so much slower than standard, almost five minutes long for Mariner's three and a half, but I loved it: https://youtu.be/T8GZ_W5XjW0?si=qF_NzAwt-AGzJsCh Why did Bernstein slow it down so, so much? If you comment on this I'll share my thinking about it, but I don't want to say anything now and color your perception of it.
