📰 Mods Update News + 🐱Kitty Game Test + Henwards Legacy

Hey friends!

I'm back from my covid break! It was quite awful but I took (many) vitamins over the past couple weeks and am feeling much better, and fully back to work.

I come today with news regarding Mods Updates, a new kitty game test I've been practicing on, and the release of my Henwards Legacy video (finally!)

Mods Updates

As you know, I recently decided to quit the Sims Modding community, but a talented mod creator is adopting my mods: Mizore Yukii 🥳

She is working on an update for Plumfruit, and I'm helping her by creating the new visual elements! Take a look down below at what the phone will look like in the next Plumfruit update:

This update is taking a while since Mizzie is working on other stuff for the Sims, so thank you for your patience, I will let you know when it's ready to be released.

Kitty Test Game Project

I've been learning new stuff this month that will be very useful in the future! After finishing the amazing game called Stray (where you get to play a kitty in a cyberpunk city) I was inspired to create myself - in the Unity Game Engine - a playable and customizable kitty game! Watch the video linked above to get a sneak peek🐱

This test project allowed me to learn about: 

• Animators: linking all movement and interaction animations to the character controller (a super cute kitty here)

• Customization: I discovered several ways to customize a 3D character directly in-game. This part is not in the video up above but I managed to add a menu to customize the kitty's eye color separately, but also the fur and the body type. This could be really useful in the future if I want to have a customizable character in one of my future games.

• Interactions: I also managed to add interactions to the scene such as: Meow, Sleep, Lie, Sit, Drink and obviously SCRATCHING

• Fur: Another thing that was fun to work on is the cat's fur. It's really hard to create fur and hair in video games since it involves a LOT of polygons, but I managed thanks to a 2D texture and alpha clipping to make it only about 40,000 polygons (for those of you who know about 3D modeling, you get it ahah). I also added an option in the game settings to disable the fur for low end laptops, in order to optimize the game.

And there are other stuff that I'd like to keep secret for now because I *might* try to release this as my first (mini) game later this year during a 100 day game dev challenge! Stay tuned :)

Henwards Legacy Video

Tomorrow is the LAST day of editing for me regarding the Henwards Legacy video! I'm super excited to release it (probably next week) so you can see what I learned in game development during the past few months. And also there are funny bits in the gameplay that I really like. For example, one of the quests is to transform objects into chickens and bring them to a well known character called Agrid in order for him to make a potion. There are also secret passage ways, spells, and obviously my favourite rainbow house that YOU chose: Slotherin!
