The Shaun's system leaves almost everything to improv while the formal logic of stats and trials looks half baked. Logic and stress are used interchangeably and in the end appear to be the same. The game has no goal but forces the players to try to succeed and fail equally, otherwise the game ends. This gaming the system is antithetical to roleplaying

Monogatari has everything you guys said you like in an anime. This week, they do some things VERY DIFFERENT WAY

I love the guided storytelling of Rem's system. Many so often the GMs and players in RPG have a writer's block and cannot improvise with high quality. The system of prompts with 6^8 combinations provide very high replayability while guiding the narrative.

These both look like a ton of fun. Shaun's game seems more up my alley and would likely have more replay value. In the context of the competition I think I have to give it to Rem though. It aligns more closely with the theme of the source material without relying on the GM to guide it in that direction. The extra level of polish also helps. Wish I had a group and time to play these! Excellent work.

Shaun's feels more open to what the GM to come up with. I would love to play with a creative GM who has some specific zombie apocalypse themed mission using this system, or ideas for how to roleplay the failure states. Rem's is easier to pick up, but it feels much more limited and like it would run out of steam after a few sessions with even the most creative minds, whereas Shaun's relies on it's players for better or worse. I think 7 Day Spiral will be more appealing to people because it stands as it's own complete piece, but Zombies/Distractions has more potential with the right playgroup.

Shaun saying “it’s never gonna happen” is just a cue to push harder, he’ll break
