I've never watched either of the anime, although I did try watching brotherhood. Fullmetal Alchemist was the first manga I read and finished. It is my favorite manga and I have nothing against anime. I watch more anime than read manga, but I don't enjoy seeing the story stray from the canon. With many other manga I could watch their anime adaptations because I don't have an intense love for the manga.
