車に追突されて病院に運ばれた私は、衝撃的な光景を目にする。
おなかと腰から何本も鉄の棒が生えてるの！
それは創外固定と言って、ひどい骨折の治療に使うものらしい。
鉄の棒で外から固定された下半身は、少しも動かす事ができない。
腰と骨盤を創外固定され、両脚をシーネと包帯で覆われて、私は入院していた。
鉄の棒に縫い付けられたまま、動くこともできず、血とおしっこのついたおむつを交換される毎日…。創外固定の傷口がズキズキと痛むのに、なぜか腰から下は痺れたみたいに感覚が無い。なんでだろう…？
お医者さんから大事な話があるみたい…。
