Happy New Year!

Hello everyone,

I hope you all are having a wonderful start to 2023. The band and I had a blast at the H#7 zoom party. I'll be posting the replay (along with #6) by the end of next week.

In October, I announced on Patreon that I would be doing a song a week and I think that helped hold me accountable. So here are my goals for 2023!

1. Grow the Patreon

We've been floating around 400 patrons for the past year and I really want to put energy into growing the community this year. I briefly spoke on Friday night about how we're gonna start hosting Halloween parties on YouTube Live before moving over to Zoom in 2023.

The YouTube portion will be more scripted and produced. The zooms will continue to be improvised chaos with a priority on taking requests and chatting with patrons.

I'm wanting to maximize the potential of the new basement and I think we're fairly limited on zoom. So I'm hoping to kill two birds with one stone by doing high quality streams on YouTube while raising awareness for the Patreon.

Some other ideas that I've been thinking about trying out:

· Write and produce a song on stream with input from chat

· Watch-alongs with commentary (Chicago livestream, Incantations, G3:DoD, SotC, etc)

· Patron exclusive Podcasts? I think this could be fun but I have no idea what to talk about.

Any thoughts on what you would like to see more (or less) of in 2023? What specifically compelled you to join the Patreon? What would you like to see improved? Let me know!

2. Grow YouTube Subscribers

I'm pretty over the abandoned tuberculosis hospital that Twitter has become, so I'm trying to move my eggs into the YouTube basket. Hopefully the Halloween Livestreams will help. But the big news here is I am going to try my damndest to release at least one comedy song a month in 2023. I know the algorithm rewards creators who post frequently, so I would love to hear any suggestions on other YT content that would be less labor intensive than the usual songs/videos.

3. Increase Spotify Numbers

I think the obvious path here is "release more music." I released Incantations via Distrokid, which has an incredibly quick turnaround. So I plan on releasing these new videos on Spotify the same day they're released.

I'm also working on non-comedy music and hope to start releasing some of it this year. I haven't decided whether I want to release a series of singles, an EP or a proper LP. But I plan on finishing a few more songs before I decide what to do with them. All I can say for now is I'm incredibly excited.

Lastly, 2023 is the 10 year anniversary of 'Heart of Mold.' So I plan on adding that to all streaming platforms sometime this year.

4. Live Album

I'm ready for the world to hear The $100K Band's take on SotC and beyond. When and where would you all like to hear a live album recorded? NYC (Bowery), Chicago (Lincoln Hall), Atlanta or Chattanooga are top contenders. And I think the weekend before Halloween would give people plenty of time to figure out travel arrangements. But I'm open to suggestions!

That's all for now, folks. Can't say thanks enough for your patronage this past year!

From what little I understand about YouTube, you'll want to put out 10m videos semi-regularly. The downside is all the time that goes into editing to put out videos semi-regularly. However, if you're looking for content, you can do a whole series on the lore and expand on the lore from Grandma's basement -- or something along those lines. You're a gifted story teller with an interesting as hell brain. And it's a quick way to come up with music to match the story. But I'd definitely recommend maybe hiring an editor so you're free to do every other of the millions of things you do. HELL YUP to HoM on streaming services. And the obvious answer to a live show recording is Austin. We're about the live music. We're weird as hell AND we're country as hell. And you haven't been to Texas. And we're centrally located in both TX and, to a lesser extent, the US. It only makes sense. Edit: ACL is Oct6-Oct15 this year. Just sayin'. And they would do a good job recording.

Another trip to Chicago would be incredible. Anywhere you decide to go though will make for a memorable evening.
