Halloween 1.5 VOD

Thanks so much to everyone who tuned into our zoom hangout Saturday night! We had a blast. To all who couldn't make it, you can tune into the 3+ hour event here.

Spirit Halloween Theme and a couple other early songs have some unfortunate audio glitches. Still trying to figure out how to avoid that. Might be worth streaming on a platform that is made for musical performances and jumping on zoom for conversation afterwards. Open to hearing your guys' thoughts.

Love playing with this group! Here are links to check out more of Randy and John's stuff.

I'll offer a slightly different opinion of while I think the current format is fun, I do see some pros to separating to q+a and music segments as well. It would, I think, make people less self concious and kind of free up conversation a bit if people didnt have it in the back of their mind they are holding up music. It might also let people not feeling as social still tune in for at least the music portion.

Thank you for uploading the video so quickly for those of us who couldn’t watch live. I really love that you showcased the Chattanooga Two. Slim Pickins are a lovely find and John Boulware’s music theory videos are so good for filling in knowledge gaps. Brilliant resource! Echoing the above..the format is really endearing as it is. If your drummer can find a way to clean up the audio then great but to be honest the odd glitch here and there can make for a more soulful watch and listen anyway.

Going to echo Dan a bit. I enjoy the mega super Halloweens the way they're set up already, and accept and expect occasional glitches. If you wanted to put out clean, unglitchy tracks of these live performances, then definitely look into a second source for recording the audio in addition to transmitting through Zoom. That's beyond my technical knowledge, unfortunately. I would do some morally questionable things if there'd been an opportunity to get the live, sauna fresh renditions of some of the songs played over the 6 hour long vinyl push. ALAS. So if, in the future, there were opportunities to get songs played at Halloween events, I'm sure people would be over the moon and you could possibly edit them in over the zoom glitched songs in the VOD. Because I, for one, can't wait to hear Reggae Boat Parade or Hair Metal Spineless or Sea Shanty Haunted by the Ghost of Ernest P. Worrell and cherish them forever.

Yeah, I get it. Honestly if the levels thing is too messy, the easier solve might just be to record with another camcorder locked off only (not feeding zoom), maybe off a monitor out feed? I hope you get more feedback from others too, of course. Interested to see what you've got in store for H2. Love the sneak peek at the concert idea. Any thoughts to video recording the concert to distrib to those that can't make it in? I bet they'd pay an additional tax for that opportunity.

That's fair! I tried to record the audio in logic but for some reason the zoom audio is significantly quieter so the logic audio is unbearably distorted. Adam is getting more involved on the tech end and we'll prioritize having a fix for next time.

I really love the “hanging in the basement vibe” of these with the back and forth music/chat, and am guessing I’m not alone there. I get the frustration with the music being buggy. Might be a bit more of a pain to post-edit but think if you were to run a secondary camera (not thru zoom) to capture it (or even just rec the audio not thru zoom), then you’d have that to mix in with zoom recorded vids later. I’d bet all my Lutskoin that we all can stomach (& kind of expect) glitches on any live stream, but all desire a great sounding grab of the music for later. Buffering aside, the music mix & quality sounded great! Was a wonderful show and I enjoyed you and “Pete” playing and having fun with Randy & John.
