Irishman Theme Origin
Added 2021-10-08 17:34:16 +0000 UTCI was looking through old files and found something that might be of interest to fans of The Irishman Theme Song:
I was tasked by Netflix to write a song for the Timothée Chalamet movie, The King. It was a really weird job. The gist was they wanted an angsty indie track with a medieval vibe as a promotional video to post on socials. They made it clear that they didn't want it lyrically to be a comedy song, which was odd because the premise was pretty comedic. I was asked to draw inspiration from the plot and themes. They ultimately didn't release it because they didn't like that it made Timothée look like an emo kid (which I assumed was the point).
I repurposed the opening sequence as The Irishman Theme Song and the rest is history. Hopefully I don't get in trouble for sharing a watermarked video from 2019.
I'm really excited for Saturday night! It will be very loose, but it should be a lot of fun. I'll be chatting with zoomers in between songs so come with questions if you've got em.
Ciao

This is really good and I genuinely enjoyed it but having the opening line be “daddy’s not the boss of me” was so funny, I can’t get over it
