(New Option) - Patreon now charges upfront for new patrons
Added 2016-11-30 02:09:14 +0000 UTCI recieved an email from the admins about this new feature and i wanted to share it with you guys to know your thoughts as your opinion is really matters
- Please take not that im not going to use this option now so dont worry, as i want to know your thoughts on this.
What does this new option does?
- It charges new suppoters (and people that edit their pledges) in the same day they pledge instead having to wait the whole month.
- Old Suppoters are charged on the 1st of each month as usual.

What are the pros and cons of this new method.
Pros:
-You can check the all rewards as soon as you pledge
-I can post all content and files in the website and those tiers can grab them right away, instead of waiting for ZIP files at the end of the month.
Cons:
-There's no "trial pledge" anymore.
This means that you cannot pledge, view the posts, download content and then leave before you where even charged. Though i think you can still see the public posts made by the artists.
-This is somehow fair to the artists (due to many thefts) and unfair to people who wnat to support, stay the whole month but suddently they have an emergency and need to stay back that month.
I wonder how many people have signed up just to see what it's like, and then decided they liked it, and stayed on, compared to how many might not have pledged if payment was upfront.
Another Thing:
This has nothing to do with the the new feature but i thought it was worth mention it.
There is no option now for declined patrons to view any posts. If you are declined, you wont get any notices about new posts I make, and not be able to view any until payment is cleared up.

In conclusion: New patrons will get charged right away and can get rewards as soon as they pledge.

People that really care and support, people that pledge only for their favourite fan art and people that only want to steel your thing and spit on the faces of people that really care and support. Lower tiers would benefit on this but higher tiers would be more complicated as i know that people really want to support but things happens and they cant. The thing is that would realy like to just post all the content here as i know that some people came here expecting to see all ( but for safety reasons i just cant). This is something i really need to be carefull about doing since it seems that once you use that option, you cant go back. (reason why i do want to know the opinion that follows me and support my work)

2016-11-30 18:10:40 +0000 UTCI know what you mean. its as you say.. a double edge blade.. Would definitly benefit both sides in lower tiers but in high tiers is complicated. The most wise thing would be pledge lower and nearly towards the end of the month.. raise your bet after you are sure. (case contrary of some people that have issues towards the last day to unpledge)

2016-11-30 18:04:03 +0000 UTCI am divided on this. Basically, the charge-upfront can prevent image-thieves as well as benefit the lower tiers to have a faster access. However, the charge-upfront can be a double-edged blade for the tier I am at as well as might upgrade to. For instance, I might need to change-back to a tier after upgrade due to personal reasons ... with charge-upfront, I am basically fucked.
