This practice helps to shift sadness, complacency, and stagnancy into happiness, motivation, and self-love by activating and energizing the pranic heart center. Begin with a call/response chant of the protection mantra (Aad Guray Nameh, Jugaad Guray Nameh, Sat Guray Nameh, Siri Guru Dayvay Nameh). This mantra generates a light of protection in all four directions. Then we warm up with the life-nerve stretch and some deep breathing, before a sequence of seated side bends, pranic arm movements, swan kriya, cat/cow, downward dog, standing forward folds, tree pose, lizard lunge, crocodile, sphinx, half frog, and child’s pose. This practice is accessible and energetic, and perfect when you’re in a funk.
