Our May game is Serpentes: Anniversary Edition!
It's an update to a hellishly addictive game made by Benjamin in 2015, a game of Snake, where you eat fruit to extend your length and have to avoid running into walls or yourself, but with a twist: fruits get 5 random properties each time you play that are unlocked by eating them.
We're very pleased with this one! The original Serpentes had a small but very positive reception, so it's always been in the back of our heads to give it another chance with Punkcake. It's a great brain tickler that's both super fast to play and super rewarding to get better at. This new version adds 11 unlockable fruits to mix and match into the original salad, with new mechanics and reworked old ones, and also a brand new soundtrack from Pentadrangle!
Like the original, we also made a free version that's basically the full game minus most of the unlocks, and you can only choose one starting bonus instead of two.
Serpentes: Anniversary Edition (and demo) is available now on Itch io, and Patreon subscribers can redeem it on our website! You can play the game on Windows, MacOS and Linux!
