Patreon-Exclusive: Proof-of-Concept version of our April game, If Letters Had Pants!

Hi punks!

I've been very busy making our april game this month! It's getting close to ready and it will come out next week, hopefully before the month is completely out. It is called: If Letters Had Pants, Would They Wear Them Like This?

When I started working on this game at the end of March, I set out to make a playable proof-of-concept as quickly as possible, to make sure the game was still interesting outside of my head, and to start getting feedback from the rest of the team. This version was made in about 4 days, while I was still also busy with other things. And that's what I'm offering you today!

Pants & Letters Proof of Concept for Windows
Pants & Letters Proof of Concept for MacOS
Pants & Letters Proof of Concept for Linux

Obviously it's very rough, but I was able to remove the crash that was in the actual first version and make Spanish actually playable. You can also play in French, and in English of course.

It's very different from the game as it exists now on my computer, and even more so from how it will be when it reaches your computers next week! The scoring rules have changed quite a bit, the game now has a bunch of new mechanics, so many new objects, and pants, and even letters, the timing on everything is different, there's music now, and the game got much, much prettier. Just check out this screenshot I just took!

Anyways, this is just a little curio for you all! Let me know if you like this kind of thing!

Just so you know, the Newscake for this month might come a little late, but we will have another game for May, so you will be charged on May 1st for your subscription! Thank you!

Love you all, thanks for your support!
See you soon!

This game was inspired by Make Ten, yes! πŸ˜„ Thanks for the suggestions! We did consider these ideas, but in the end we found other ways to promote finding longer words and make the timer more forgiveable. It wouldn't be too hard to add a sandbox mode if there's demand for it after the game comes out, but I think I'll go ahead and release the game without it to keep to the game's identity for now. πŸ™‚ I also reworked the font to be bigger and more legible, hopefully that will do the trick!

Loved the demo! Can't wait for the full release. If there's one thing I'd add to the full version it's a Zen mode. The timer is way too stressful and short. I'd like to enjoy this at my own pace, like a crossword puzzle in a newspaper. If it needs a "challenging" element, then add a limited number of digs to that mode, which promotes thoughful play and searching for longer and better words, instead of spamming non-existent two-letter words like "aa" just because the timer's running out. Archaeologists aren't time-pressured when doing their job usually, or they wouldn't have much to put in museums, lol. Also the font being hard to read doesn't help with the limited time mechanic. Adding a more legible font as an accessibility option would be helpful for some people, I imagine. Anyway, those were just my two cents. Good luck with the full release! P.S. Were you inspired by "Make Ten" by pancelor on itch? :D
