Meditation Challenge Day 2: Cultivating Concentration with Mantra

(To be practiced on Monday, August 23)

This meditation practice uses mantra to develop your ability to concentrate and withdraw the senses inward to achieve meditative awareness. In yoga, this is the sixth limb, dharana, or concentration. Dharana is like a muscle you can strengthen and exercise to help you naturally drop into a meditative state. This is a wonderful morning practice to cultivate a sense of presence for the entire day.

**For today, notice what pulls on your mind’s focus and awareness. If you find yourself spinning the same thoughts over and over, take just 30 seconds to a minute to breathe and recite the mantra with your breath. Repeat this exercise throughout the day, even while doing your normal day-to-day activities. It will do wonders for the nervous system!**
