***FULL REACTION*** JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR

Movie Run Time: 1:46:30

You will need your own copy of the movie to watch along! 😁

What's the buzz? Tell me what's a-happening! Has been stuck in my head this whole time 🎶 I’m not mad about it. My shoulders are getting a good work out 😏 Jesus Christ Superstar will be full reaction only due to the music and my bad luck with YouTubes copyright team, so I've made it available to all tiers 😁

P.S. Trading Places (YouTube edit) will be up tomorrow). It's been so busy with having family here and out visiting yesterday and today!

Thanks!

Props for an original request.

Happy Hanukkah

Thank you so much for reacting to my request! I'm not religious at all either, but that's why I love this musical. It at many points questions religion and beliefs. Marie and Judus both mentioning Jesus being just a man. Pilates' line of 'But what is truth? Is truth unchanging law. We both have truths, are mine the same as yours' Everybody has their own reality of sorts and what they believe to be 'true' And when 'Judas' returned in the last song saying it wasn't particularly clever to choose that time and land to first appear since options of reaching people were limited ('Israel in 4 bc had no mass-communication') or questioning 'Tell me about your friends at the top. Who besides yourself was the pick of the crop? Buddha was he where it's at, is he where you are. Could Mohamed move a mountain or was that just PR? Did you mean to die like that, or was that a mistake or did you know your messy death would be a record breaker? all questioning the validity of religion in my view. Also the arrival of the cast by bus and them getting changed and getting props etc. plus the addition of modern elements like guns, tanks and planes show that is is just a play/movie and that it might be something that would be able to happen now with how much superstars are revered and idolised, and that Jesus was pretty much the superstar of his time and was in that sense maybe nothing more than the superstars of the modern day ... but that is just my take on it... I'm so sorry for rambling... thanks again for the reaction!

I agree watch "Jesus of Nazareth" (1977) or "The Gospel of John" (2003) which is word for word drama of the Gospel of John. These would give you a more accurate telling of Jesus life.

I hereby declare Dawn to be an honorary Summers. She shall henceforth be known as Dawn Summers. Uhhh... Dawn Summers the Second. :-) (Consider this a nomination for EuroTrip.)

Other notable bands in rock history... The Who - was once "the loudest band in the world" in 1976 Queen - formed in 1970 and released their first album in 1973, this was well before their big hit songs to come later. They had a slew of great songs! In the U.S. The Ramones formed in 1974 and released their first album in 1976. They are notable for being a back-to-basics rock band and heavily influenced Punk Rock culture, they kicked it off. For fun they all wear similar haircuts and they all use the same last name "Ramone" hahaha so awesome Also Blondie was formed in 1974 in that same New York punk scene. Chris Stein and Debbie Harry both attended art school in the mid to late 60s and they formed Blondie in their mid-20s. Could be why they explored other genres of music later and had crossover hits.

Buffy would instantly become Dawn's favorite female character ever.

You may know Deep Purple from songs such as "Lazy" and "Child in Time" and "Smoke on the Water" live from Budokan! 🙂 Ian Gillian was the original singer but he's not in the movie, he did not "reprise" the role 🥴😆 More fun notes, the 3 bands who originated the genre later to be called "hard rock" were... Deep Purple - 1968 first album Led Zeppelin - 1969 first album Black Sabbath - 1970 first album Supposedly all 3 bands formed in 1968... and Jimmy Page was in the Yardbirds prior.

Mannygogou

Ian Gillan? Wow. Yeah, he could definitely hit that high note like he does at the beginning of "Highway Star"! Imagine Freddie Mercury??

Louis Marzullo

Oh wow, I would like to see this! I will hunt for it now... 🔎👀 Edit - found it on YT for free... for most? Interesting note - the singer from Deep Purple sang the role in the original concept album

Dawn, for a more traditional cinematic version of the life of Christ, you may want to treat yourself to "Jesus of Nazareth" (1977), director Franco Zeffirelli's epic 6-hour TV mini-series, loaded with legends of the silver screen. It will answer many of your very astute questions in the outro & probably give rise to a whole bunch of new ones!

Louis Marzullo

Dawn, I enjoyed your fancy dance moves near the end. Maybe its time for a career change? The Scottish Ballet in Glasgow holds auditions periodically, although giggling during the serious parts might be disqualifying. Dinnae let the bells ring in wi'oot a dram – here's tae a guid year! Happy Hogmanay!

Duke Pootentooter

I hope you consider many more classic musicals and rock operas that many other reactors ignore completely. Some of these are among the most culturally significant films in the history of cinema.

Bartleby

Amazing. Sounds daunting enough on a Harley!

Louis Marzullo

Again if you get a chance to see this play for real do it. You might spiritually be better suited for Gnosticism or Buddhism although I don’t really consider Buddhism a religion. There’s so much of the Bible that’s poorly translated or wrongly interpreted or just plain rewritten to suite the political narrative of the day. Jesus wasn’t even his name. That’s a result of some sort of manuscript typographical error in the Middle Ages. Read the beatitudes and you pretty much got it.

Tons of fun, HH. Plenty of cousins & friends' kids around my age, too. Some of them were within walking distance of our apt., as long as it wasn't too frigid... A pear liqueur that a friend's sister makes became my favorite as an adult but cherry sounds delicious, also. 🍒

Louis Marzullo

Let me get this straight: the accomplished Norman _Jew_ison directed Fiddler on the Roof, followed it up with this movie, and yet expected us to believe he wasn't Jewish?! :-) :-) :-) (He wasn't.) Before the movie came the stage musical, and before that came the highly successful album. Here's a promo video with Murray Head* performing Superstar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKicGSYSwKY * Also famous for One Night in Bangkok. Also the big brother of Anthony Head, aka Giles from Buffy.

About 6 days, entering Montana from Idaho on hwy 2 and exiting into North Dakota on hwy 12.

Robert Inman

Seems like an actual Holiday Season, as well as great memories to have! (By the way, I occasionally make cherry liqueur. What you describe seems perfectly timed for proffering such "summer" liqueurs to the guests upon maturity*.) * Of the alcohol, not the guests. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Btw, so glad this particular reaction elicited that expression of joy in the thumbnail!

Louis Marzullo

Wow, how long did Montana take?

Louis Marzullo

Enjoy your visiting, Dawn! One of the best memories of Christmas the way it used to be was the folks & me visiting various relatives & friends on all of the weekends between Thanksgiving & New Year's Day or them coming to our home & all the cookies, pastries & other usually home-made treats that would emerge (with coffee, tea & various liqueurs & wines for the adults). Ah, the 70's! 🥰

Louis Marzullo

Don't kill yourself on our behalf Dawn! It's the holidays. I rode bicycle across 5 states (Washington to Minnesota) the summer of 1972 singing this song track with a friend (along with Elton John's Yellow Brick Road) 😃
