Happy Monday everyone! We had a super busy weekend so didn't manage to get much out other than the lore drop - hope you're happy with us coming back with the Icereave Axe. The concept of one of the players of Athana! Let’s delve into its lore, mechanics, and the frostbitten power it holds in its blade.

Lore

Deep within the snowy wastes of northern Daragaard, amidst the relentless blizzards and treacherous terrain, lie the freemen and outcasts of Nardaveng. These hardy souls, their ancestors having rejected the rule of five great houses, have embraced the wilds, forging lives and weapons alike from the unforgiving ice.

The Icereave Axes, and more recently swords and spears are a symbol of freedom and defiance. Fashioned by the outcasts, they are as much a tool of survival as they are of ambush. Travelers crossing the frozen overland are likely to encounter these frostbitten bandits, each wielding an Icereave weapon with lethal intent.

While the dwarves claim dominion over the riches of the land, mining the mountains for their hidden treasures, the surface belongs to the freemen. Below ground, the dwarven networks provide safe passage, but above the only way to travel Nardaveng safely is by airship or boat to Port Callen.

Variations

Using the Axe

This weapon is designed for characters braving the icy wastes and facing chilling foes. It offers them a piece of the winter's heart, but not without challenge. Grant this weapon to those who respect the wilds and have proven their strength against the cold's cruel embrace. When in combat, describe the Icereave Axe's effects with a flourish that befits its lore. Let the ice spikes grow from the blade with each successful hit, painting a picture of frost spreading over the wounds of its enemies. When the Cold Burst is activated, narrate the explosion of ice with visceral detail, immersing your players in a blizzard of their making.
