Greetings, lovely supporters of Athana Chronicles! Today, we're doing another magical item inspired by the fantastical works of Brandon Sanderson, from the Mistborn Series. We present to you the "Feruchemy Metal Mind: Gold," a unique item that allows characters to store and retrieve health in a way that's never been seen before in 5e (I think). Let's delve into the inspiration, mechanics, and variations of this captivating item.

In Athana itself, I have no real use for Allomancy or Feruchemy (and definitely not hemalurgy!) in their core forms, but being HUGE fans of the series, adding the mechanics of those magic systems into single items seems to be the best case. Maybe down the line I'll create a Mistborn or Feruchemist class? Maybe? No promises because that sounds like a nightmare to balance! However lorewise - as it stands there is no real implication other than these being magical in nature and used for dramatic self healing effects. Thank Harmony!

Item Mechanics

• Health Storage: Players can store health (hit points) in the Metal Mind by concentrating, as if focusing on a spell. For every 2 hit points stored, 1 hit point is saved in the Metal Mind. The process is slow, storing up to 5 hit points per hour, and causes two levels of exhaustion, representing the toll on the body. This exhaustion ends once the storage process is stopped.
• Health Retrieval: Retrieving health is a bonus action, allowing players to regain stored hit points instantly. There's no limit on the amount that can be retrieved at once.
• Variations Based on Rarity:Rare: Capacity of 40 hit points. Very Rare: Capacity of 70 hit points. Legendary: Capacity of 100 hit points.

Encourage players to use the Metal Mind strategically. Storing health is a slow process and not feasible during combat due to the exhaustion effect. However, retrieving health can be a lifesaver in battle. The item requires attunement, ensuring a deep bond with its user and preventing it from being passed around.
