Animated Blades are swords imbued with arcane essence, a semblance of life breathing through them. This phenomenon can occur through enchantment magic, ancient rituals, or more rarely, the awakening of the blade itself. Driven by a deep-seated thirst for combat or an unquenchable desire for revenge, these blades act on their own, no longer requiring a wielder to carry out their intended purpose. Some of these blades are tasked with guarding treasure chambers or wizards’ studies, while others tirelessly roam the the tombs and castles of their long-forgotten masters.

Be it a pirate captain surrounded by two trusty sabers, keeping his hands free for two flintlock pistols or a wealthy tavern keeper having her premises patrolled by a bunch of enchanted swords, Animated Blades can be anywhere at everytime and thus make great minions. With swift movements, deadly flourishes and multi-target Blade Dances, a single Animated Blade can keep a low level party in check, with the sword zipping around on the battlefield and attacking whatever target you desire to be covered in cuts and bruises.

With Swift Movements, Flourish and Blade Dance, a single Animated Blade can keep a low level party in check. As you rise through the tiers, their role as minions or part a complex encounter becomes more prevalent.
