Due to the spinal ougrowths on their upper shell, Ridgebacks can easily be mistaken for a cragged rock formation, especially when partially buried beneath the arid soil of their preferred habitat. They continually filter swathes of sand through gill-like structures, indiscriminately feeding on organic and non-organic matter, be it mineral deposits, plants, living creatures or dried out carcasses. A wandering or resting Ridgeback does not pose any particular danger, nomadic tribes are known to hitch a ride on a Dunecrawler's back to traverse the desert without the great beast paying them any mind. But their temper matches their size, and an angered Ridgeback resembles a force of nature, a walking mountain with titanic strength, shrouded in an ever-swirling tempest of sand.
