I think the left and right do come at UBI from different directions. The right wants to take away all "welfare" in exchange for UBI. This would be fine depending on the amount of monthly payouts. The numbers I've seen from the right, however, would make matters worse for low income people. I'm on disability here in the states. If they take away my housing subsidy and we don't have Universal Health Care, I would be in far worse shape than I am today. So, while I think it's good that the left and right are starting to see UBI as a future necessity, we need to be vigilant about how we negotiate a final plan. Sounds like she's coming at it from a completely different direction that doesn't quite make sense to me. Love hearing about some Canadian politics. Keep up the great work!
