I'll check it out! Thanks
2021-02-07 00:17:39 +0000 UTCYou should check out Stan Rogers song Barettes Privateer. Another song to listen to is by the Irish Descendants called Peters Street. Both are great bands.

2021-02-05 20:41:48 +0000 UTCI love this, and really dig that you're doing it. Shanties have always been a fun thing for me, and I'm glad they're getting some shine. Two things: 1. 3rd paragraph, near the end: you have the year listed as "1950's." Is that supposed to be "1850's"? 2. It may be fun to make mention of how movies and video games started this sort of "new focus" on shanties. Movies like the Pirates of the Caribbean didn't feature too many shanties prominently, but definitely brought the Age of Sail back into the cultural limelight. Games like Assassin's Creed: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed: Rogue had dozens of shanties and period songs each, and even sold them on CDs (and they sold rather well).
