I think Appetite For Destruction was THE GnR album. The Illusion set had some really excellent songs- off the top of my head probably November Rain, Estranged, Live and Let Die, Civil War... but they didnt have that insane, raw, and powerful sound. GnR really were brilliant and an amazing band. The 2016 was so huge that they decided to re-reunited for 2020, but they had to postpone because covid came along. I was a little bummed that Izzy Stradlin wasnt present in 2016. And I just hope that my tickets for 2020 dont go to waste.

You're not far off with the Buckfast comparison. Imagine Night Train Express to be a sweeter, more-alcoholic version (Night Train is 17.5%). I think it's awful, but hey, to each their own.
I appreciate the comments about distortion, too. If all distortion was harmful, Tom Waits' throat would've exploded decades ago.
