Arcane - 2x2 Watch It All Burn - Reaction

Comments

Absolutely understandable and valid. If I hopefully may provide some insights, and I don't have first hand knowledge. Just based off interviews and media stuff. The lead show runner - Christian Linke did an interview. He didn't really confirm or deny this, but there were rumors that Arcane was originally post to be multiple seasons 3-5, definitely seemed like more than 2 at least. There's also a little back storying in "Bridging The Rift" about this. But the general audience guess is that since Arcane was already becoming (as they were making it) one of the most expensive animated shows ever made, it seemed like Riot Games didn't want to sink anymore money directly into Arcane. Which from a business side as a business, is totally valid and understandable. I don't even think, technically speaking Riot Games is making a profit or return on investment with Arcane immediately. They had many goals and reason to make Arcane and it definitely was to jump into more media and long term game, but at what cost do you want to spend doing that? (Just assuming from a funding perspective and still trying to be profitable) my personal and general guess is that Arcane was meant to have more seasons and I personally don't blame the lead show runners 100% as I assuming the company probably told them at some point in time, it's only going to be two seasons. And Christian did say that the team was kind of burnt out, they spent in total basically 10 years on one project, so a lot definitely happened behind the scenes.

Also wanted to clarify for Molly with her non-spoiler research. Just want to clarify, while "useful" is a nice way to put it. In all simplest explanations, Noxus is a warmonging nation without peeling back layers and nuance, basically evil nation. But here is a good way to describe Noxus Overall, they are viewed as evil, expansionist nation that likes war. But internally, they just value strength above all else. Ironically, and not to retcon the show, they offer any many new nations they conquer a chance to join the nation of Noxus from lowest citizen to the highest official. If you can do something and you have the willpower to show your value, you will do well. One of highest generals Darius and his brother Draven started out living in the slums of Noxus, but both worked their ways up to the highest ranks in the military. In short, they are a meritocracy that values individuals' abilities, strengths, and talents vs. wealth, social class, or race. In short, if you are weak, you will not survive in Noxus society.

Thanks so much! And yes we just filmed 2x8 the other day so I think that played a factor in my opinion here as it was still fresh in my mind when I recorded this editing Lia segment lol. Overall really enjoying the show but I also like to give my small critiques when appropriate!

(Re-pasting from a conversation on your 2x3 reaction) Honestly in their total defense ( not attacking you) season 2 is controversial from a certain perspective. Many non-league fans were confused this season because again, they use the "Show, don't tell" route. Which typically is a very good route to go with entertainment as audience members don't want to be spoonfed things or be preached too with some type of messages. But if it's overused, that's when it becomes bad as it can leave many viewers lost, even if they have to use their own deduction skills or fill in head "canon" and really the worst is relying on outside media or stories you have, when any piece of entertainment should hopefully be able to stand its own two feet, especially for general audiences. Some moments are good for it such as Caitlyn grabbing Vi, but not saying anything, or Jinx saying "this wasn't how it was post to go" because they are leaving up to each viewer to perceived it their own way. But from a bigger narrative of explaining science, motives, characters development, etc. It can be bad if you don't have some dialogue to explain things. Long story short, you just have to balance it well.

Hey Lia, plus Molly & Courtney! I just want to let you know your critique is 100% valid. Definitely read your comments below as we Definitely defend ya, I will definitely go at bat for ya lol. I don't know how far ahead your reactions are but season 2 definitely got bonkers and has it fair critiques and criticism. Arcane fans are definitely passionate, but I just want to say you are very valid in your feelings. And don't feel bad either, MANY fans of Arcane from a general audience standpoint, said this season became overwhelming. It just attempts a lot in a short amount of time. Even fans that know the lore, universe, etc. Really the biggest crictism of Arcane is the opposite of most shows usual problems. Where a show runs too long. Arcane really needed at least one more season because the show runners attempt a lot in a very short amount of time. P.s. I posted that playlist for ya on 2x3 reaction. Again it's a long list lol as I admit, so might want to screenshot or save it somewhere for reference
