Erwin definitely lived for answers. He himself said he didnt know what to do once he achieved them. I think it was one of the reasons Levi chose Armin too. I think Erwin would've been capable of leading, but his motivation would not be as strong as before. He wouldn't push pass his limits as much as he did before knowing those secrets.

Subjects of Ymir: Another term for Eldians; All Eldians/Subjects of Ymir are able to turn into titans under specific circumstances and no other race is capable of this. Marley: A great nation, conquered by the Eldians under Ymir. Marley now is the greatest military power on the planet, and rule over the mainland/continent. Warrior: The term for Eldians/Subjects of Ymir who serve Marley as Titan shifters. Paradis: A large island off the coast of the mainland/continent, where all the events of the first 3 seasons take place (with the exception of flashbacks). The Walls are on Paradis, and many Eldians live there, but many live outside the island on the mainland in other countries.
