Running an ESP8266 without the SDK

After some fun with an ESP8266 USB bootloader (which is totally not complete)... I had part of a non-sdk of sorts. Then, Hackaday announced the 1kB challenge. This got me cookin! I decided to really strip things down and see what the ESP could do without the requirement of Wifi. The answer is nothing short of amazing.

I don't know what it would take to enable the built-in radio, but it would have to be tied to around 2.4 GHz because of all the internal filters. With a 173 MHz I2S Bus working, you might be able to get some sweet harmonics up at 434 MHz :-p
