A little light housekeeping
Added 2017-10-04 16:34:08 +0000 UTCIf you were watching, you saw my payment drop from $530 to $222 overnight on October 1st. I totally expected this because I'm starting to get a feel for who's a real patron (their awesomeness radiates through the screen) and who's a plunder-bot.
I just now scoured through my patrons list and manually ejected everyone who was labeled "fraud" .. because for some weird-assed reason Patreon does not do this automatically. These fake pledges were sitting there, filling up my tiers and giving the impression that I have more patrons than I really do. While the high numbers are a bit of a morale boost, the appalling billing-day drop is not. I don't know about you, but I would prefer to see & know the truth.
The truth is that we're doing rather well despite the tide of fraudsters. Henceforth, however, I will be taking more active measures to crack down on them. If you get a message from me asking if you're a human, answer it promptly lest ye be blocked.

I don't know if I got any new patrons. Maybe one or two. Most of it was from people moving up the tiers. Nothing is happening with pay up front that I can tell. It's "still in beta" and presumably we'll get it when Patreon decides it's ready.
2017-10-05 02:44:17 +0000 UTCSeems more like a little heavy cleaning to me. In any case it’s nice to see your revenue growing. I know a lot of it is from patrons moving to higher tiers, but did you get a decent number of new patrons? And what’s happening with pay up front?

2017-10-04 22:47:19 +0000 UTCAh well. Glad the $40s are real. But no. The most i'm giving right now to a single artist is 25$, so 40$ is waaaay over budget. Also i'm spending about 500 a month before taxes on all the webcomics i follow. Soooo. Yeah. I should actually find ways to lower what i'm spending. It's not killing me or anything but it's still 500$ a month.

I only back one other artist on Paytrain, but he doesn't seem to get that problem at all. If you want, I can check in with him and ask if he's got any applicable advice.
