This here's an American folk song / murder ballad. Published versions can be traced back to 1916. Probably the "authoritative" performance was recorded by the Monroe Brothers. UNTIL NOW.
Actually this is a couple of years old, recorded in my Richmond apartment. I've pulled out a few old songs to dribble out here, because most of you have not heard them. To those of you who bought these on CD all I can say is "Sorry, man. There's new tunes a-cookin but they ain't done yet."
I did two passes on the multi-track; one take of me singing lead & playing tenor guitar, and an overdub take with me playing bass & singing harmony.
