The risk of a predator coming out of a house/bedroom with a gun is always there, but they do a very good job of minimizing it as much as possible by trying not to let them out of sight while they retrieve CP and whatnot. It was definitely within reason to have said "I'm just gonna leave this door a crack open for safety," for example. ESPECIALLY since you had already been in a situation with a pred in which the door handle didn't work from the inside, which you found out only after you were inside the car. LOL
