The term catfish actually comes from the main presenter of the show. He made a sudo-documentary (titled catfish) where he falls for a girl online and then it turns out that he's talking to her mother. When he meets up with them the husband tells a story about how they used to send cod to China and the flesh was mush when the fish arrived. So they put catfish in with the cod to keep the cod agile, basically comparing catfish with the people in life who keep you on your toes. The word later became synonymous with people pretending to be someone else online because of the documentary.

It was that way in the late 60's but there wasn't the internet to help the peds track and meet they're victims. Those *"':;!? Were in the neighborhood peeking around. I hope this poor girl can find peace from all this. To have a person murder your family is unreal, although they usually do threaten to do something to them if you don't comply to they're demands and keep your mouth shut. This horrific story reinforces a need to speak up if we see predatory POS applying for jobs where they will be community leaders in positions of authority (such as police, teacher, youth pastor, etc...).
