Earth has a pop of 30 billion and has a very strict birth quota to control the population growth and those born outside of that quota aren't eligible for Basic. According to the authors a lot of the people you see in this scene are those born outside of the quota and referred to as undocumented. Basic provides the basic necessities of food shelter and clothing but no money.

Remember that Amos in an Earther and his description of the people he knows back on Earth is pretty horrific. We have gone a long way to destroying our planet in the era of The Expanse.

Errinwright's Project Caliban confession, hope for Mei, a bit of Amos backstory that starts to explain why he is the way he is, Alex getting sh*t-faced in the most creative way ever, Prax explaining that Ganymede is effectively dead, a glimpse of life on Earth, and the ocean scene. And the next three episodes are even better than this episode.

2020-09-18 22:00:31 +0000 UTCEarth seems to be overpopulated, that's why people are out of job, as Avasarala said, people are unemployed, but it's not that they are lazy.. that scene when Bobbie finally "finds" the ocean is AWESOME and the score is AMAZING..
