After a lot of tweaking of the compression algorithm, we finally have a working base of the voice chat, without consuming your whole internet bandwidth!
This means, that we can move onto implementing the basic controls (Push to talk / always on switch etc.) and then onto making the voice chat sound more "as if you were actually there", with the Voice muffling and Voice echo features we discussed in the last post.
Since the voice chat is proximity, meaning you hear your friends in 3D space, and their voice gets quieter the further they are away from you, we thought of another feature for the voice chat: Walkie talkie mode.
This mode will always work Push to talk, and will use a separate keybind, and it'll allow you to speak on full volume without relation to 3D space, as if you'd be using, as the name suggests, a walkie talkie. Thanks to krupickes for the idea!
Thank you for reading till the end and see you next Sunday!
