0.9.4 release: multiple channel support!
Added 2023-03-03 09:53:15 +0000 UTCDear Friends, I've noticed that a lot of users needed multiple channel support. Files downloaded via regular channels and/or handed over by third parties usually have more tracks assigned to different channels. The 0.9.3 release would give unexpected results. Also fixed the 'note_on' with velocity '0' issue, it has to be read as a 'note_off', it didn't at first.
Variable tempo seems to work but I earmarked it as 'experimental'. Most of the midifiles have a tempo signature baked in the file, so the bpm that you've filled in would be overwritten anyway. When your certain that there is no time signature baked in the file, use the bpm field to set it up, otherwise, leave it at 120.
Why the 'experimental', it still seems to have difficulties with the more exotic setups like the 7/8 time signature. Seems like a common issue, but I'll dive into it.
Regarding the script, I'm quite happy with the Blender export, it's quite fast. The AfterEffects script works, but needs some optimization, as midifiles increases in length and channels, it can take a minute to load up.
I've moved the workfiles to a separate post where I can sum up the release notes. OSX and Windows version tested. Just like before, Apple will probably earmark it as 'malicious software' and that it's broken and that you need to toss it in the trashbin, well, bummer that Apple makes stuff so difficult for open source developers. Just overwrite the security and let OSX also open other than only stuff from the app store. OSX app version will work on Intel, terminal version on both Intel and newer Silicon chipset
