As the creator of a fantasy saga, I work very hard on plot and character images. I have to admit that there comes a point in any writer's work when he stops making up the actions of his characters and starts just observing them and writing down what happens.
Sometimes I myself am shocked and surprised by the behavior of the warrior with the Dragon Heart, the rugged Hadjar.
I think this is the way it should be: the main character can delight you, annoy you, irritate you, seem very strange and illogical at times, and then perform such heroic deeds that your opinion of him changes dramatically and you begin to admire him.
