Progress Report

Today was my most productive day in a good while! I've taken a decent break from my ADHD meds, and today was the first day back on. And boy golly, they've worked today, let me tell you.

Rather than tackling any of the big ticket items today, I decided to tackle several smaller jobs to get them out of the way. In doing so, I took a few creative liberties and made a few changes which should hopefully reflect in the next update.

Starting with bug fixes, I've made an attempt to fix a bug where the 'click-to-continue' sound would reenable itself between sessions periodically. This is a hard one to confirm as it only happened from time to time, but all going well it's fixed. I also fixed a bug with the devmode functions, though that doesn't mean anything to you!

The most notable changes today apply to the main menu. Significantly, the quit option has been moved to the top right as its own standalone button and a 'Continue' button has instead been added. This button will detect the most recent save file, confirm it is loadable (IE: not from an incompatible version), and load it in one click. This should speed things up when getting back into things. I've also adjusted the main menu layout, as of right now the social media icons now appear above the main menu buttons.

I've also made a number of other small changes. As of 0.54, we'll no longer be producing a 32-bit exe in the Windows release. This isn't some necessity, more so just that I suspect most people using the 32bit executable are doing so in error and that almost nobody is actually running a 32bit installation of Windows in present day. We can roll this back if needed with no ill effects, but excluding the 32-bit version reduces the download size slightly and all going well, it won't inconvenience anybody. Hell, I'm in my early 30's now, and my very first laptop purchase when I was like 14 (2007) was 64bit! Y'all have no excuse!

Tomorrow, I will be aiming for one of the notable feature implementations in the upcoming build. I'm leaving the story stuff until last as it's helpful to have artwork to match my writing to. CurryCatz finished up the spritework for... oops! Never mind! No new character will appear in 20x2! No new character will appear in 20x2!

Anyway, like I said, tomorrow I'm aiming to have at least one of the major feature implementations done, if not both. One both of those are done, I'll be working on 20x2 and aiming to get it up to par. All going well, I've have artwork by that stage - it's always nice not to have to change what I've done to match the visuals!

Long may it continue! I need to make sure I'm taking plenty of breaks as not to wind up in a similar rut again. Today was the most productive I've been this year at least. I hope I can keep that up!
