Progress Report

I don't really have a whole lot to report, but it's been a hot minute since the last one so I thought I'd check in.

I'm still hard at work on Day 16. It's getting there slowly but it's still got a way to go yet. It's a good day with some great content in it so I'm really hoping it hits the mark!

Also in other interesting news, we have employed new file formats in the engine which have allowed us to save an absolutely massive amount of space. How massive? Try more than half. I anticipate that 0.32 will be around the 250MB mark. And I've tested the build on the team, they can't tell the difference in either the visuals or audio! So good news all around... until you consider that doing this breaks Ren'Py's save compatibility in horrible ways. Ways that our current compatibility system don't account for. The good news is the original save compatibility system we built that was eventually replaced with the more efficient system we have now, it would have been able to deal with this. It'll need to be rebuilt to fit with the current system, but it won't be a huge ordeal. It will be a matter of restarting from a checkpoint or the start of the day, but it should otherwise get you back on track fairly quickly.

Anyway, CurryCatz thinks he can scrape everything through by the end of the month and I think I will finish ahead of schedule personally, famous last words. Fingers crossed all goes well!

(Oh and RE: Streaming. Discord is probably not going to work how I want it to, so we'll probably do it on YouTube or Picarto instead. Capture card is tested and working A++, I've got a couple of other things coming which should make this whole process as efficient and painless as it can be. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can get live!)

Comments

No worries about the length of anything, no pun intended I swear!, but seriously though, length only shows passion and care of what you're doing, thanks again for the progress reports, not required but heavily thankful for them. I highly doubt I would see anything as "unnecessary fat" at the end of the day if I'm honest that's what made me love the work you do. Let's pray nothing would be cut! or at least not too much hehe, good luck!.
