Sileo 0.20 BETA Release
Added 2020-12-13 21:41:25 +0000 UTCHey Patrons! Surprise, here's a new build released outside of schedule!
Now, this one is a little different than usual, not only because it's been dropped without warning in the middle of the month. This build is a substantial upgrade when compared with 0.17, upgrading the game to have full native 4K support and to run off the new 7.4 pre-release version of Renpy to take advantage of the improved graphics libraries and renderers.
The reason we're dropping this version early is to determine how many people will be excluded by the new system requirements of this version of the game. For one, Sileo is heavier than it was before was no longer runs on some very low end systems. Another issue is that the engines new renderer requires OpenGL ES 3 which is only available on graphics hardware released late 2012 or newer. Of course, if too many people cannot run this new version of Sileo we'll likely look into alternative solutions but ideally we won't have to - Sileo has never looked better, and we'd love to be able to proceed with this level of visual fidelity.
Note: This is a beta, and it will be a lot buggier than usual. This is to be expected, but by all means, please still let us know so we can squish the bugs.
Here's what we need from you. Please download the build for the platform of your choice and play it as your normally would. We will post up shortly on to check in on how this is going. Please note that we expect this build may not work for everybody. If it does not work, please wait for the poll to go live and respond accordingly - you don't need to report this to us specially. Also note this version may have other bugs not seen in the previous versions, feel free to report those as we'll need to fix them if we proceed with this build anyway - two birds / one stone.
Finally, please note that for now, we'll be using MEGA as our file sharing service. Unfortunately Patreon has a file size limit of 200MB which is... well, pretty crappy really. These MEGA links will ask you for an encryption key when you open them, which we will provide as part of the post.

Changelog for Sileo 0.20:
Replaces all visual assets with native 4k (3840x2160) variants.
Updates Engine Base to Renpy 7.4 Pre-Release Version.
Enables Experimental Model-Based Rendering.
Some code changes and improvements to improve functionality at high resolutions.
Misc Bug Fixes and Other Improvements.
NB: This version of Sileo is experimental and is intended to replace the standard build assuming it performs to satisfaction. While this build does provide a vastly superior visual experience, the system requirements to run Sileo have increased significantly as a result. A device that could run 0.17 or previous versions may not necessarily be able to run 0.20, however despite this, we have been surprised at just what WILL run it. Below are tentative system requirements based on our testing which will be adjusted as testing continues.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
WINDOWS: Windows Vista 32 Bit or newer required. Requires a GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3 (Circa Late 2012 or Newer). In testing, the weakest machine that passed had an Intel Celeron N3050 Dual Core CPU, 4GB of RAM and Integrated Graphics.
MACOS: MacOS 10.6+ Required. Requires a GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3 (Circa Late 2012 or Newer). System requirements should be largely the same as Windows.
LINUX: Requires an distro based on Ubuntu 16.04 or newer. Requires a GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3 (Circa Late 2012 or Newer). System requirements should be largely the same as Windows.
ANDROID: Requires Android 4.4 KitKat or Newer. Requires a GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3 (Circa Late 2012 or Newer). In testing, the weakest device that passed had a Snapdragon 620, 2GB of RAM and a Adreno 405 GPU.
