Latest File Folder: Moss Pole Update: Blanking Insert and Root Window

I have been in conversation with Sydney Plant Guy and his concern with the twisting action was twisting roots when using his chop and extend technique.

My solution to this is to have blanking sections, there are 3 options here:

Blank, The root window which will allow you to cut the roots, or the blank with res below.

You will need to plan your chops ahead of time but this is a solution to the twist.

Future iterations may include sections that don't require twisting to connect... If anyone can suggest a way of connecting sections without a screw in a solid way... I'm all ears.

Maybe try a simple slotted twist lock. Just 2 to 3 short J shaped slots and matchinig pins. Have an alternate version that uses the threaded inserts to replace printed pins with some screws for those wanting extra strength. That should speed up print time by cutting out threads but keep some rigidity and still allow for very minimal twisting to lock in place maybe 5-7mm.

Hi, instead use a full multi turn screw you could try this interlocking system which need only less than half turn and is quite robust : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2403922

How about connecting similar to the way older vacuum cleaner pipes used to connect together (ie just slight tapers on both ends, one slightly smaller than the other)?

You could do a bayonet style fitting, possibly use an o-ring to improve the connection strength and rigidity.
