Hey Guys! I'd love to know what you want to see on Hoochos

You are a massive part of enabling me to produce content without thinking about how it's going to perform. You basically give me the freedom to make whatever pops into my head. So it's time I return the favour.

What do you guys want to see on the channel?
Leave comments below and I'll do my best to incorporate them into my future video plans.

Love you all.

And again, if you like the ideas and systems featured. Just remember, you made that happen.

Thank YOU

Cheers

Hooch.

whats the wick wedge for Mitch?

Al, I'm a bit further north than you in the wet tropics of Cairns. Been all-grain brewing and growing salad greens etc here for 26years, so I know what works for me, might be able to help you cut out some of the error???. Fell free to email me: office@tropicalpestsolutions.com.au, regards Steve

Hooch, have just been binging on your videos as I think about getting into Hydroponics as in Townsville we have a very short window in the winter to grow stuff due to the heat. I would love a video on what type of system you would recommend for each type of plant. i.e., Dutch bucket for tomato, NFT for leafy greens, what for broccoli, cauliflower, beans etc. Thanks mate.

Andrew Maltby

Hooch We ´d love to see hydroponic CORN on the channel. A plant based diet also typically needs large areas of soil, and forests get cleared to give way to corn and beans, the two main harvests for much of Latin America. If hydroponic corn results in high yield, then maybe its worth exploring. Also, ¿who does not Iike avocado? Would be exciting to see if grafted avocados grow and fruit well in RGGS perhaps. I´m getting into grafting myself and seems to have potential. Cheers!

A pros and cons video of each system you've done. The ones you like the best and the ones that have been the worst. Also what plants do the best in certain systems and not others. I really like the 3D print stuff as well. I really like how you have done a lot with the 3D prints for hydroponics.

Berries! Taste great, super nutritious, and I don't think I've seen you try any out other than strawberries. I know a lot of popular US berries require ~400-600 hours of cold dormancy a year, and not sure if it would be cost effective to do those in AUS. Maybe there are some varieties there that don't require it

It would cool to see a video with a wicking wedge and growing corn in grow bags. Would also be cool to see how you can use compost, soil, and coco coir to fill the bags so the corn can get nutrients from the soil and not from a water based nutrient solution.

I would like to see more videos on calorically dense foods, real staple crops. I like the idea of hydroponics working towards food independence.

Here's a few things that interest me you might be able to get some ideas from: 1- Electronics - Raspberry Pi & Arduino uses in hydroponics to control pump flow meters & timers, temperature & humidity controlled heaters & fans, automatic nutrient additions, designs for off grid setups. 2 - Nutrients - Designing nutrients & how they are made, maybe look at how individual nutrients effect the growth of different plants in different ways. Likewise with ph - how do plants adapt & use different ph levels. 3- Pests, look into pests & specific treatments from an organic point of view. Hope that helps

Craig Hetherington

Hey Hooch, love your work.

Craig Hetherington

Have you considered having a play with some flow meters like this (https://core-electronics.com.au/clear-turbine-water-flow-sensor-with-3-pin-jst.html) to monitor for pump failure ? Another way could be a power meter to monior consumption and alarm when you expect power to be consumed.

I am a new patron, so it would be really neat to get an overview video/greatest hits that goes over which videos to watch and in what order to get started on the right foot.

Myron McMillin

I'd like to see comparisons between systems, see if there's one more effective, or if both are equally effective one is likely to be cheaper or simpler.

Neal Ladani

I very much enjoy your explorations of ideas and your reductionist slant on system builds. Right up my alley engineering wise. It's very easy to over engineer something to work but to whittle a concept down to the simplest, cheapest, easiest possible and still have it work is real art.. discovering where the various limits has so much value.. Also makes your ideas more accessible to audience that may not have the means to go all out. Themes / ideas of interest: Passive systems and passive safety - Being able to survive failure for a good while. Set and forget, low maintenance, long lived system ideas. Parameter changes with side-by-side results. Different solutions, strengths, media etc Hybrid ideas beyond traditional hydro... eg fertigation, growing common cheap fertilizers, container growing in crappy soil mix as media More non-traditional hydro plants and methods. More 3d printing ideas. Keep up the trail blazing Hoocho!!! Bart

How about some vertical hydroponic systems for space challenged situations? It would be a whole new technique to experiment with. It would also lend itself to indoor growing as those of us in the "other" hemisphere approach winter.

Paul Holzworth

Im new to 3d printing. Maybe a run through on making hooch bucket using your ender v2. Love your work btw. Keep going.

Mark Collins

How about some videos designed to grow the female side of your audience? “Let’s grow some flowers!” Annuals, perennials, etc. What if you feature some videos where your wife/SO is featured? (Females attract females, perhaps.)

McLen

You’ve made so many videos on so many different topics. Perhaps it’s time to do a “lessons learned” on those topics. Something that summarizes all you’ve learned to date. Maybe we’re talking about a new channel, I don’t know. Examples: “fertilizers, measurement and feeding”, “if I were to start from scratch, what would I do first?”, “how to start growing on a $500 budget”, “what types of plants grow best in what types of growing systems”, maybe even “let’s try vertical farming!” Love everything you put out there!

McLen

Love to see a video of tools of the trade as in what meters you use etc getting the water right as in-depth as you can, you may have done one but I haven't seen it :-)
