Telling a friend you don’t like them never is positive. I used to do that thinking i was honest and it was bad in the moment/while they stayed. Once it ended they were like you were right but that really didn’t feel good.

This seems very out of character for you and I'm concerned." I've always taken the approach of not talking badly about the partner, instead bringing up actions or decisions I'm concerned about that my friend is making (which is likely because of the partner I don't like). Based on what Emma shared it sounded like this was the same approach her friend who appreciated the honesty also took - it wasn't about disliking the partner, it was concern for them moving in together so quickly. I feel like this takes a lot of the stress off the friendship and sort of removes the "I'M GONNA PROVE MY PARTNER IS GREAT NO MATTER WHAT!" issue from the equation because it's not about the partner, it's about the friend and how that relationship could potentially be impacting them in ways they're not realizing.
