Daily Life with Three Systems: Chapter 16

The door creaks open as I step inside my home. 'I should probably get some oil for that.'

"I'm home!" I call out into the room.

"I-I'm in the bathroom!" Natsuki replies, voice lightly muffled.

"Alright. I'm going to go Lay down." I reply as I turn, walk through the tiny home, over to where the bedroom is, then wordlessly step inside and flop down on the bed.

'haaah' there we go. Nice soft bed.

Rewards... rewards...

Holy shit.

Mental note. Check spam folder often.

These are REALLY good.

I hear the bathroom door creak open, Natsuki eventually enters the bedroom, drying her hair with a towel and wearing some clothes I made for her. "Hey Andy..."

"Hey, Natsuki." I wave with a small yawn.

"So... how... did it go?" She quietly questions.

"I'm S-Class now." I shrug mutely, running a hand down my face. "That's... a thing..."

"Where are the others?" She peers around the room, taking a single step back and gazing into the rest of the house.

"Oh, they're probably still at the guild hall partying." I note.

"Wouldn't you being promoted kind of make you like... the guest of honor? Why are you back here, then?" The girl asks, tilting her head slightly.

"I'm not a big fan of... people..." I admit after a moment. "Wait- that came out wrong. I'm... just not that big on social activity. I loathe being the center of attention. I'd rather people just kind of ignore me and let me do my own thing. An Introvert through and through. The guild... well... they're nice. They're practically family. But my social batteries can only handle so much, y'know?"

"Oh! I understand that." The girl nods slowly. "I... didn't have many friends back home... and those that I did have kind of... changed... towards the end."

She sighs, taking a seat on the bed as I sit up to continue speaking with her, it'd be impolite to keep going while lounging around.

"I'd much rather just read my manga in peace." She smiles wistfully. "I wasn't really a social butterfly like Sayori, or calm and mature like Yuri... heck... I bet most of the school thought I was... annoying..."

"You're not annoying." I cut in.

"You've only known me personally for about two weeks now... give it time." She gives me a self deprecating smile.

"You're not annoying." I reiterate. "You shouldn't think that about yourself."

"Haaah... not even with all the..." She rotates her hand. "Struggle to express myself?"

"Oh? You mean the Tsundere stuff?"

"I'M NOT A TSUNDERE!" The girl growls.

"I find it kind of cute actually." I hum with a bright smile, causing her face to flush.

"W-W- Y-You" she sputters.

"..."

"..."

She looks away. "Thanks... I guess."

We sit there for a long moment, she gazes to the bed, pushing her hand down on it. "Oh wow. This is REALLY soft..."

"Yep. Also really expensive." I agree. "Really cut into our money, but Rias went out and bought it while I was in a pain induced coma soooo I didn't really get any input on it... though I wouldn't say it's been a bad purchase."

"P-Pain induced coma?!" The girl gasps.

"Oh, that was completely my own doing. Don't worry about that." I wave off. "You're welcome to sleep here with us if you want, but... as you have seen and shouted about... Rias doesn't wear anything to bed."

"Ugh... that nudist... I can't believe she's my boss now." She crosses her arms over her chest, with a pout. "I-I'm not jealous or anything!"

"Of what, her chest size or sleeping in the same bed as me?" I huff, causing her head to snap over, a fiery glare in her eyes. She clenches a fist at me, eyes narrowing as her hand shakes slightly.

She lets out a long sigh, shoulders slumping. "Whatever... it's not worth getting mad over. I've heard worse."

"..."

"Are you like... okay?" I ask carefully.

"Hm?" The girl blinks.

"You've come here and that has no doubt been a big change, I apologize for not being here the past week- S Class trial preparation and all- but... I feel like that's been unfair to you. Is there anything you want to do? You haven't been down to Magnolia yet. Staying inside isn't good for you."

"Hypocrite." The girl deadpans.

"Be that as it may, I'm emotionally and socially crippled. I've come to accept that. I feel like following in my foot steps there isn't something I'd want others to do."

She stares for a long moment. "Would... you go with me?"

"Sure." I shrug. "Want to go now?"

"Mhm." She nods mutely.

I rise off the bed, offering the girl my hand with a smile. "Well, let's go she what Magnolia's night life has to offer, Natsuki!"

[Split]

We make our way down the street, passing another magic shop. I have to restrain my smile as the girl beside me continues looking around with that starstruck look of hers, quiet gasps leaving her lips at the magic light poles and the parked horseless carriages every now and then.

"So have you eaten anything today?"

"U-Uh... I had something earlier." Natsuki squeaks.

"Are you hungry now? There's a few places still open."

"S-Sure..." The girl stutters.

We slip into a small shabby looking bar, there's a sign out front that says 'service till midnight'.

It's slightly run down, but from what I've heard this place is second only to the guild for food... and I'd rather not go back to that mosh pit of chaos quite yet.

The man behind the bar looks over. There's not many people here so late at night, just a few here and there.

"Today's special's fish and fries." He grumbles as we take a seat at the bar.

"Oh, that sound good. I'll have that." I nod. "And water."

"M-Me too." Natsuki agrees.

"thirteen hundred jewel." The man notes as he turns and steps back towards the kitchen. He appears to be alone tonight.

We can see him briefly through a gap in the wall as he wanders back and forth through the kitchen, preparing our meals.

I requip my wallet and fish out a few bills before sitting them on the countertop and waiting, eyes straying to the pink haired girl beside me. "So. What do you think of Magnolia so far?"

"It's... it's good. I like it." The pink-haired girl replies, but after a moment, her shoulders lower slightly. "It's just... so different. No cars... no convenience stores... no arcades or manga stores. It'll... take some getting used to."

"Yeah..." I nod once. "Took me a while, too. of course, I just refused to go outside because of my crippling fear of social interaction. "

She gives me a half lidded stare that practically screams something along the lines of 'and this guy is one of fairy tail's 'S-Class' wizards.'

"Eventually, I'll probably find a way to connect to a world with all the things you want." I shrug. "But until then we'll just have to make due with what we have." I shrug idly as the man comes back with our food and takes the money I had lain on the countertop.

I offer up a quiet thanks then begin to eat. It's quite good, actually. Fresh. Hot. Seemingly just now coming out of the frying oil.

We finish eating then return to wandering magnolia.

[Split]

It's quite late when we return. Perhaps around eleven or twelve.

Thankfully, the girl looks... more relaxed. Like a small weight has been lifted off her shoulders.

"-And then Koneko kept taunting her, calling her a dairy cow and stuff." I continue my story as we make it to the door.

She lets out a quiet laugh, covering her mouth.

"Haaah." She breathes, a smile on her lips. "Andy... I'd like to thank you... for today... I needed to go out more than I realized. It was fun... do you think we could do this again some day?"

"Of course." I grin. "Just tell me when, alright?"

We step inside, the door closing behind us.

It's pretty clear the others have come back, Valerie is in the kitchen, Rias is topless, just... casually. She's speaking to Koneko.

Three sets of eyes lock onto us as we step inside.

"ANDY!" Rias beams as she rockets to her feet. "There's my body pillow!"

"Yes yes, Rias." I roll my eyes. "It's late. Let's go."

[Split]

Of my numerous rewards, for the first achievement, I chose the five books of magic. For the next? The random base modification, the next? A crafting magic of my choice, then a magic item of my choice- that the system was kind of displeased to give me. Then finally ten random books on magic of assorted types.

I gaze out across a large dining room. It's quite lavish... and arguably has more square-footage than the rest of the house.

"At least we've got some space to move around now." Rias notes as she peers over my shoulder. "The three rooms were getting a little cramped."

Four packages are carried in by Koneko and laid upon our new table.

"Well, let's see what I've got, then." I mutter under my breath.

I step forwards, opening the first. The smallest

The rest of the group slowly slips in to watch.

"The first is..." I hum as the box opens.

A red blast of energy strikes me in the face causing me to stagger backwards.

I let out a small cough, rubbing my forehead. "Okay... ow... that would be my Barbarian's Essence."

Reasonably I only need the sharpshooter's essence and I'll eventually gain the 'Soul of the Universe'.

My body begins to ache; it feels light lightning is coursing through my muscles. "Sssss- ow- okay this hurts a little."

I think I'm getting like... physically stronger.

The issue with that is I really didn't take like... a 'baseline' before so I'll really only be guessing about how much this will improve me by.

If I'm to look at the apprentice essence and the occultist's essence, it could reasonably be anywhere from a flat times-two buff to my physicality or even somewhere in the times-ten ballpark.

Although...

Perhaps its more of a... set increase. A normal human might grow ten to twenty times stronger, but someone like me might see maybe twenty or thirty percent overall.

There's really no way of knowing now.

I open the next smallest. It's a book.

My lips quirk slightly. "Natsuki?"

"Y-Yeah?" She is sat nearby, she looks over, having been observing the boxes from the side.

"Here." I drop the fairly large tome in her hands.

"Wh-" she gazes down at it.

"Magical cooking!" She gasps. "You found it?!"

"I was granted a crafting magic of my choice, so I decided to grab that one." I shrug.

"Y-You did that... for me?" The pink haired girl squeaks.

"Mhhhm." I nod slowly with a small smile. "You can pay me back with a tasty magical feast one of these days."

"Y-Yeah!" The girl smiles brightly. I can see faint tears prickling at the corners of her eyes as she opens the book, it's quite thick, being about the size of my fibrous maker magic book. Not quite the brick that was divination, but still substantial.

I look to the next largest box, opening it up to reveal five books.

"Grass Magic." I note as I sit it aside, Rias takes it and looks over it, a low hum leaving her lips.

Another.

"Oh? Memory Magic. Kind of Rapey. I might only learn that just in case we get a world where the supernatural's supposed to be hidden like your old world, Rias."

The next book is one you could very easily find in a store. "Water Magic. Kind of basic but interesting to have."

"Oh? This one's actually pretty good. Tin-make. Maybe I can finally begin to figure out some more metal-make magics."

And finally "S-Skin magic?"

I open that last one, flicking through a few of the pages.

"Uh... clear skin... anti-acne... dermal armor... It looks to be a book based around manipulating your own skin, creepy. At least the later spells which cause your skin to thicken into tough leathery armor like some rhinoceros or something. I haven't really had any troubles with acne in this life."

"Probably because you're a devil now." Rias supplies. "Devils are naturally more attractive than humans... well... most... we kind of just move towards our 'ideal selves'. Be it incredibly attractive... or having a fish head."

"A fish head." I repeat with a slow blink.

"Yes. Gragg Forneus was a... really weird guy." The red-head whispers.

"Ah. Angler head." Koneko blinks. "Wanna-be Pirate."

"Yes. The wannabe pirate." Rias nods.

I open the final box. Ten books greeting me.

The first is kind of disappointing. "Nail magic... fucking hell, might as well make a 'beautification magic at this rate'."

"What does that do? Let you grow your nails?"

I read a few lines of roughly the middle of the book. "And strengthen them it looks like."

"Ooh. No more broken nails. That sounds pretty good." Rias eyes glint slightly.

"There's a spell to paint them as well." I observe, flicking to the glossary before sitting the book aside.

"At least the rest of these look decent." I mutter under my breath. "Bone Magic, Botanical Magic- which seems to be just an upgraded grass magic- Stockpile magic- which sounds really interesting- Household Magic, Exploding Crystal Magic, oooh Light Ecriture, that's a good find."

"Next there's pressure magic, ice magic, annnnd cursed flames magic."

I nod slowly then requip most of the books away with a single nod, lifting the book on tin-maker magic. "Well. I've got some reading to do."

[Split]

"Hrn..." I grumble a screen of archive magic beside me.

Natsuki is in the kitchen, looming over a steak that is being seared in a pan, a magic circle appearing just in front of her hand. "Come ooooon."

She's attempting her first spells with 'Cooking Magic' today. Supposedly this spell should make whatever she is cooking taste better.

Koneko is at my side, sat at the other chair looking into the kitchen.

As for what I'm doing?

Spirit Key scanner.

So far I've gotten it to a point where I can detect summoned celestial spirits... but not the keys themselves. A month of trial and error. Adjusting small pieces of 'code' within the spell itself. Adding a dot here and suddenly it stops working completely.

I should REALLY invent a 'save' and 'load' aspect to this magic. Hell, even a 'Revert last change' would save me SO much time.

I'll get back to that after I finish this spell. I'm getting close I can feel it.

I look to Virgo's key sat nearby.

Not much has changed since I became S-Class... I haven't really gone on any jobs. Nor really flexed my new status too much.

If I have my way, most people will just flat out forget I'm S-Class.

Less people will bother me that way.

I interlock my fingers as I look over the code. Silently pondering how to get this spell to ACTUALLY work.

I suppose I COULD just kind of go with this as it is now and simply tag any uses of 'golden key celestial spirit magic' and track them down.

I'll be doing that if I can't figure out this spell soon.

I've got MORE than enough time. It's only seven-seven three. That's four years to figure this shit out.

"Here you go!" Natsuki hums, sitting a plate down in front of us.

She'd given me a steak earlier. A baseline. It was quite good but I have high expectations.

I take a fork and knife, carving out a large piece.

As it touches my tongue I flinch back. "MHHh-"

"Is- is it okay? Is it good? Did I mess up?" The pink haired girl rambles.

"That is a really good steak." I whisper after chewing.

I slide it down the countertop

Natsuki takes a small piece, eyes widening slightly before it makes it to Koneko... who promptly eats the entire thing.

"Natsuki..." She breathes after a moment. "You're my favorite Wizard."

"Hey!" I pout.

"Second best is good too, Andy." Koneko quickly supplies, a faint smile on her lips causing me to roll my eyes and go back to my spell.

"Regardless, it's good that you're really getting into your magic. I'm glad you found something to make you happy, Natsuki." I smile gently.

"Y-Yeah." There's a warm smile on her lips as she gazes to the pan. "Even a year ago... I'd... I'd never think I would be doing anything like this. And... just to think... what else will I do? Where will I go... Rias said devils live for thousands of years. I... should really pick up some more hobbies."

"I'm probably going to be good on magic for the foreseeable future. I bet the multiverse has a LOT of interesting spells out there."

"Mn." Koneko grunts. "I have no goals..."

She tilts her head. "Mn. Maybe have children."

She nods once. "Yes. That's good. I'll make a family... one day..."

"So, Natsuki how are you liking your cooking magic? What's it capable of aside from making stuff taste really good?"

"Oh! I LOVE it! And... aside from making stuff taste good, I should be able to animate cookware to help me in the kitchen, then there's some spells like 'strengthen' which should increase the power of people who eat the food I make."

"Anything you make?"

"Mhm." She nods once. "Oh! There's is a few nuances, though... the more complex something I make and the more time it takes, the greater the benefits."

"Ah. There is it." I nod slowly. "Most magics typically have a downside like that. Or, well, I'd say more 'Rules' than 'Downsides'."

"Can you make healing foods?"

"U-Uh..." The girl mutters, seemingly pondering for a moment. "Not... exactly. I might be able to make foods that enhance the body's natural healing factor, but not like... health potions. Like the ones you'd see in games."

I nod slowly. "I'll get you a book on alchemy or something. That should synergize well with your magic cooking. If you can make potions and stuff taste good, however that remains to be seen."

"I'll give it my best shot!" The girl beams. "But... can we put a pin in that? I kind of want to... be the best I can be with my magic before I add in anything else to learn."

"Oh, of course." I nod slowly. "Finding a book on alchemy or potion making will probably be a complete pain anyways. We've got time. It's possible we might stumble over one over the decades."

Ping

I open my messenger app with a wave of my hand.

"Hey Andy! We finished making some stuff from that demon head! Here's your share!" - Papi

I look to the trade window, seeing an entire suit of armor and a sword.

The weapon is a deep purplish in color, it's fairly mundane as far as Terraria swords go. But I can tell it's powerful merely from looking at it.

'Greatsword of Judgement'

The armor is much more tame, being made of Scoria ingots, metal that sits at around five hundred degrees casually. It looks to have been more or less cooled to a point where it can be actually worn. Enchanted to not hurt the wearer. I can also see some flecks of white here and there, possibly teeth from Deliora.

"We sold a good bit of it, mainly the eyes I STILL can't believe you managed to kill that thing. We kept some teeth and bone, though. They were ridiculously strong. Stronger than Demonite and Crimtane, even." - Papi

"OH! Before I forget. Also here. My mom bought this from some vampires with some of the money we made. She heard how much you like cloth and stuff so she thought she'd get you something unlike typical silk." - Papi

Another item is added to the trade window, this time a black square of cloth, a handkerchief, really, the edges being a deep orange color.

'Solar Veil'

My eyebrows raise slightly as I type out a message.

"Thanks! Really! That armor and weapon looks REALLY good. I've been meaning to get a sword of some kind, this'll help out a lot. As for the cloth, Solar Veil? I've never heard of anything like that before."

I confirm the trade, transferring the items to my requip space.

All but the new handkerchief which I look down at.

I rub it between my fingers. It's warm to the touch.

"..."

I give it a gentle tug. It stretches and returns to its original shape a moment later.

It feels... really tough, actually, me pulling required a lot of strength... and...

There's something strange about it-

Oh.

When you pull silk tight and begin to stretch it...

You'd typically be able to peer through it...

That wasn't the case for this.

"What the hell is this?" I whisper.

Silk bought from vampires?

It-

Wait...

Solar... Veil...

It doesn't allow sunlight through?

Huh. But that doesn't make any sense. All cloth should get thinner when you stretch it... that's like... how ALL things work?!

Unless, of course, it has some sort of enchantment on it that fills these gaps with shadow? Or perhaps it's less an enchantment and more pure shadow was woven into the silk? But... how would that even work. I can't even begin to understand something like-

"And we've lost him." Natsuki sighs causing me to blink and quickly look between the two.

"O-Oh... sorry. New silk. Kind of got distracted."

"Soooo you're going to be trying to figure out how to make it with your cloth make, right?" The pink haired girl questions.

"Yeaaaah." I sigh. "I am."

"Good luck!" She beams.

"mn mn." Koneko nods twice. "I'll... eat Natsuki's food... in your place..."

"Now hold on a moment Koneko." I begin with a small grin. "Let's not be hasty now-"

Breeding kinks are hot <3

Fire_Fox2590

I think all he needs is the PC. The house was just given as a starter home sorta deal. Though I don’t think he even needs that now because he added archive magic to become a System-lite. It can be replaced but the new one won’t have the amenities the current one has. Like the recharging lunch-able and where would he be without his daily lunch-able???

Enthessi

The natsuki fluff was excellent, and kek koneko hinting someday in the far future for kids Edit- also ngl i do kinda hope kids stay something for the epilouge, kids tend to cause a lot of bloat in stories

andrew rousseau

I can't remember but is he able to move to another house or does he need to stay at that one also is he able to upgrade the house himself

DarkestCalling

Dang, I kinda wanted to see what the random legendary base modification would’ve been

Ben

So i guess Fairy Tail is eventually going to get a new Pink Haired cook for the Guild Hall. I almost feel bad for anyone stupid enough to mess with the person that makes them such delicious food in the future.

Creature of Grimm

And so Koneko begins hinting at her new life goals...get bred😊

Orchamus

Andy has to fight for Koneko's affection now, lol. Household magic is great. If I had magic, I'd mostly use it for Quality of Life stuff. All the little time wasters that add up. Good shit, Flame. Thank you for the chapter!

Gerald Of Revea

Some of those magic are interesting household magic especially since if they can be overpowered they tend to be strong.
