Rwby: Eye of the Beholder: (Chapter 3)

Ugh. Boring.

A petite girl sits on a large dumpster, a near silent sigh leaving her lips as she gazes around the dark alley.

Her finger taps on the lid, her expression flat and disappointed.

Her gaze strays downwards where a person is being held, kneeling on the floor... by two copies of the petite girl herself.

"I-I'll pay it back! I-I swear! I just- I just need a little more time." The man sputters and shakes, arms held out by the two clones.

The girl raises her arm and taps her wrist right where a watch would be.

"I-I just need O-One more week."

She slowly draws out her scroll, a call ongoing.

"Mr Blane... you've already had five 'one more weeks'." A masculine voice echoes from the device.

"I-I'm good for this!"

"No. You're not." The voice states slowly. "You got fired from your job and blew through all the money you borrowed gambling. Maybe you should have given up after your third loss, hm? Notice a pattern? Kick that bad habit to the curb and stop trying to win at slots or the card table? The house always wins, Mr. Blane... and I always get my money back~"

"W-Wait- you- you own that casino?!"

"I'm hurt and appalled, Mr. Blane. What do you take me for? Some sort of shady loan shark? You see, such words are bad for business."

"But-"

"Shhhhh." The voice on the scroll shushes. "Now. I'm going to tell you what's about to happen. You are going to come in. Willingly or not, one involves my associate here beating you so bad you'll need to take out another loan immediately just to cover your hospital bills afterwards. And after that? Pick your favorite kidney, Mr. Blane. I'll be taking the other."

"W-What?!" The man squeaks.

"Oh. I'd got a nice little under the table deal with some magic researchers, but you don't need to know about that. So. What'll it be?"

The girl's eyes widen slightly as she catches something in the corner of her eye.

Her mouth opens as she watches two people walk by the alley- not that they can see anything, she made sure to layer an extremely powerful illusion over the area.

The first? Unimportant. Some blonde glasses wearing teacher hag.

But the second?

Her panties dampen a bit, her face flushing slightly.

Suddenly she's seeing through the eyes of one of her lookouts.

Holy... shit...

That skin! The hair! The jawline! Those sunglasses just make him even more handsome! It was like he was crafted by the gods SOLELY to check every single one of boxes.

Well, visually at least.

He lifts his sunglasses, seemingly looking... right at her in confusion.

Silver... eyes.

Well. That's another box checked off... mystic eyes.

On that note, a smile crosses her lips, she swaps places with the clone and activates her power.

She can feel her mystic copy eye latch onto his silver eyes.

Her brown eye shifts, gaining a silver hue.

She recoils, pain thrumming throughout her skull.

She quickly swaps away where the copies of her also seemingly twitch and writhe for a moment.

She slams her eyelid shut, letting out a few panting breaths.

Well...

That's unpleasant

She's never copied a silver eyed warrior before. Is this what they all feel like?

Regardless she always wanted an opportunity to act like one of those mythical figures. Silver eyes are arguably the best mystic eyes- aside from her other eye- and she's not about to travel to Atlas to take a peek at some Schnee. Trading out her copied mystic ignition eyes is worth it.

"Neo? Are you alright?" The man on the scroll asks, sounding worried.

She smirks down at the scroll as she swaps the scroll's camera to selfie mode, slowly cracking open her eye only to quickly shut it again as the world gains so much... color. Vibrancy. It's like she had taken drugs. Is this what people with Silver Eyes see all the time? Trippy. Maybe that's why they get killed all the time. Their eyes make them high.

Regardless, she kind of has this... thing... for copying mystic eyes and learning how to use them. Even if she doesn't keep them in the long run.

It's just... fun to take something of someone else's. Something she has no right to have, then learn to use it better than the people she copied it from. Even better if she meets them later to show off. Before slitting their throats- if they are a problem, at least, most of the time she never re-meets the people she copies off of. If she does have to take time out of her day to seek you out, well, you're probably in for a bad time.

In this case she'll get to know what it's like to live a day in the life of that HUNK out there. What he sees, what he can do. What their CHILDREN could do!

"You copied a silver eyed warrior?!"

She smirks and nods once, gazing towards the man she was hassling a moment ago. Her copies had bludgeoned him to unconsciousness as he tried to run away during her brief moment of distraction. His arms are twisted out of socket. It looks quite painful.

She gently massages her eye socket before doing some sign language. A dull ache still permeating throughout her skull.

Do silver eyed warriors always have headaches? If so that sucks. But maybe it's just her getting used to her new heightened perception.

"You... want me to find out about someone? Why? Is it this silver eyed warrior?"

The girl with pink and brown hair simply nods once, signing one final word.

"Boyfriend."

"Wh- You're too young to be dating!" Her father figure shouts, causing her to roll her still open pink eye.

He'll help her. she might just need to remind him that she always gets what she asks for.

[Split]

"U-Uh... Miss Goodwitch?" I begin quietly...

"Yes, Noctus?" She hums, looking over the numerous outfits that I'd picked out.

"I think... I just saw someone with silver eyes."

"Oh? Are the Roses here?" She mutters.

"Or rather... Silver eye... the other was pink."

She pauses, turning towards me. "Pardon?"

"Uh... I saw this pink and brown haired girl watching us. She had uh... one pink eye and one silver eye."

She's silent for a long moment. "I... See. One moment."

She turns, briefly bringing out her scroll and pushes a few numbers on it.

She begins quietly speaking on the phone with whom I can only assume is Ozpin as my gaze slowly trails around our surroundings.

Was that Neo Politan?!

She has silver eyes?!

What the fuck?!

Why did she smile at me like that? That uh...

That doesn't bode well?

She is really cute though sooo uh... I'm not exactly sure how I'm supposed to... progress from here?

I put my sunglasses back on, shoulders slumping slightly as I continue to look around slowly.

[Split]

A white haired man blinks owlishly at a large magical window.

"Say again?" He mutters slowly.

"A silver eyed warrior has been found in Vale, Jacques." A man on the other side of the screen repeats, he is tall, in a well-ironed white suit, there's a metallic implant above his eyebrow. He has his arms folded behind his back. "I have spoken to Headmaster Ozpin on this matter and... we have made a decision on how to progress in this scenario. Beacon is going to finally make use of a few clauses that were created in its rules back when it was first created. The designated team clause and the recommended student clause."

"And... if my understanding is correct, you wish for me to send our Heiress to Beacon?" The Acting CEO of the Schnee dust company asks with a raised eyebrow. "I understand the benefit of combining the Schnee bloodline with that of the Silver Eyes, but I was under the impression that this was being accomplished through Whitley and his fiancée?"

"The silver eyes are merely a secondary trait."

A- A secondary trait?!

The white-haired man blinks owlishly. For something like the silver eyes to be considered a 'secondary' trait... that is... that's like calling the Schnee mystic eyes 'alright' instead of 'The Best Mystic Eyes in ALL of Remnant'.

"What do you mean by 'Secondary', James?" Jacques slowly speaks.

"His silver eyes are... more or less just... a neutral state." The general of the Atlesian Military, James Ironwood explains slowly, rotating his hand. "His true power lies in what we like to call 'The Mystic Eyes of Fortune' or 'Gambler's Eye'."

Jacques shoots the man a confused look. "Pardon?"

"Just... look."  Ironwood sighs, a video appearing on the screen. He watches a- quite handsome- young man blink slowly... he flinches back as his eyes physically roll downwards.

Replacing the original silver eye is one with a snowflake around it.

"That looks... similar to the Schnee mystic eye already?" The white haired man frowns.

"It's not." Ironwood shakes his head. "We've been cataloging what he has access to and already we have seen quite a few interesting additions. These would be his Mystic Eyes of Frost. Allowing him to lower the temperature of anything within his line of sight and create ice."

"That's quite powerful." Jacques observes.

And he's being honest. Mystic eyes can be hit or miss, you could get something laughably weak like the ability to tell what time of day it is or get something comparable to the Schnee. That power is above average all things considered.

"He has said... that he has hundreds of mystic eyes of similar strength." Ironwood finishes.

"WHAT?!"

"And not only that, but he also said that he has a little over one hundred that he qualifies as 'Ultimate' mystic eyes which should compare to- if not surpass eyes like the Schnee Family or Silver Eyes by two or three fold. Just that they are... outside of his reach currently."

Jacques steeples his hands. "Yes, yes... I can see your point now... his mystic eyes... I can see why you'd want those added to the Schnee bloodline... or in this case, I suppose it would be adding the schnee bloodline to... that... though I do not need to remind you that mystic eyes don't always pass on between parent and child. This could be a case where his eyes are merely a one-off. Or perhaps his children could just randomly get one of his many mystic eyes instead of all of them at once."

"Yes, we have thought of that. However. at the very least his silver eyes will pass on... and likely a trait that has combined with them. The Six Eyes. He spoke of that trait giving him greater precision and I can see it, plain as day. He never used magic before. Nor his aura. Yet in his first attempt, he fought at a level on par with most huntsmen academy first years... then a short few weeks later, he has perfected his control of not only aura but his magic as well. That trait... might be something we need now more than ever. If it truly gives that much precision... what would happen if he tried to create dust? Could we see the first ever truly viable light dust?"

Jacques' eyes widen slightly.

Light dust... yes. That'd be incredible. Dust means quite a lot to the Schnee family. They've never been able to make use of Light Dust.

The Schnee family already has quite the affinity for creating dust. Their natural affinity for Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind are already quite high. That's not even getting into the affinities for secondary elements which are also above average, with some being quite a bit higher than you would expect, such as ice.

A result of being able to use dust in their mystic eyes's glyphs, no doubt.

But if you were to give this hypothetical trait 'six eyes' to a Schnee...

The average master of dust conjuration can create a crystal that has about eighty one percent purity, very rarely improving to eighty-five or eighty six percent.

Now, that may not sound like much of an increase but looks can be deceiving. A five percent increase in the overall purity of the dust crystal can increase its burn time and the amount of charge within it by a little over fifty percent.

If you gave that trait to the Schnees, they'd gain an iron-grip over the dust market. More than they already have, at least. Possibly being able to artificially create dust with purities of ninety percent, maybe even more.

"There... is one slight downside to the young man, however." Ironwood sighs. "He has amnesia... and as such, he will need someone academically inclined to teach him. I have seen your younger daughter's test scores, and I believe that she would be perfect for this... in addition, Ozpin talked of having a second Silver-Eyed warrior moved up two years from her place in Signal, so she will need to be taught as well."

"Weiss... lacks patience in dealing with those she sees as unworthy. I am unsure if she would be the best for this situation." The Schnee dust corporation's Ceo admits after a brief silence. "But. I can see why it needs to be her. I will see what I can do."

"Thank you, Jacques."

[Split]

Alright. Soooo.

Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me?

I'd like to think that I'm PRETTY observant.

The mythical 'Six eyes' and all that give me visual clarity better than a high-definition camera.

But, I didn't see even a single hair of Neo after that first moment.

Like... maybe I saw her, but she wasn't looking at me?

Just a random coincidence?

Ping

I glance to my scroll, the small metal rectangle vibrating on my desk slightly.

I grab it, pushing the golden diamond in the center as the rectangle splits.

Glass connects the two parts, a see-through holographic-like window showing my messenger app, the equivalent of a 'google', and even a few other apps and games.

Ozpin: "Could you please come to my office? There are a few people I would like you to meet."

I blink down at the message, a quiet hum of acknowledgement leaving my lips as I quickly tap out a response of 'OMW'.

Which...

Now that I think about it... Ozpin probably doesn't know what that means. I'm unsure if internet culture and simplifying things like 'Laugh Out Loud' or 'On My Way' stayed the same.

I realistically I could even find myself in a 'my pet died' 'Lol' 'Lots of Love' scenario.

I slip my shoes on and quickly walk outside, adjusting my sunglasses as I begin to make my way through the massive school.

I can see students walking to and from classes, chatting in the halls.

It... seems to be quite a while since I was in a school. I'm still not used to this.

"Oh hey! You with the sunglasses!"

I pause mid-step and look around.

Striding towards me is a girl with brown hair and mocha highlights, there's a bright grin on her face. "Hey! Nice sunglasses."

She seems to look over me from head to toe. "Huh. Haven't seen you around before. The name's Coco. Coco Adel. I just wanted to take a good look at my new sunglasses buddy."

She is indeed wearing sunglasses.

"Noctus Argentus." I reply slowly.

"So. You a second year? Third year? Maybe even a fourth year?"

"I'll be a first year, next year." I supply. "Ozpin kind of just picked me up out of the woods and let me stay here cause I've got nowhere else to stay."

"Huh? He can just do that?" The girl mutters.

"If he thinks he can get something out of it." I shrug as I lift my sunglasses.

"Oooooooh. Yeah that makes sense." The girl hums, cupping her chin, a small smile working its way across her lips. "Damn, you've got quite the face on you. Momma approves. I've actually got a teammate that's single if you're looking for somebody. Heck, if you just want to have a fun time? I'm down."

"I'll pass... for now. I'll more than likely seek you out later." I admit.

"It's a date!" The girl smirks.

"Also." I continue. "Maybe you shouldn't speak for your teammate like that. Now. Ozpin told me to come to his office to meet someone, so I'm gonna... go."

"Don't let me hold you up." The girl shrugs. "See you around Silvy"

"Maybe I'll see you around as well, Coco. Might take you up on your offer." I note as I continue on my way, eventually making it to a large elevator.

I step inside, waving my scroll at the panel and causing the doors to shut.

The floor shudders briefly before I begin to get carried upwards, I peer out the window across beacon academy as I am taken higher and higher.

The world seems to slow as I lift my sunglasses.

the world gains so much more clarity, I can see people walking down below. Magical energies flowing everywhere.

My gaze locks onto one sole person on the far side of the school yard, leaning against a large statue. 'Oh? That guy's scroll password is six eight two one.'

My Sharingan finished cooking.

Well, a few days ago, that is.

They're... fine.

Overhyped as hell, though.

From what that voice in my head says they just let me see magic and copy things... oh and do some basic hypnosis.

But, I mean, realistically it was the quickest thing I could probably use 'safely', being a power that can function at full capacity while only being a 'third' of its full power.

Apparently, I can unlock additional tomoe which improve the heightened perception thing?

I'm going to be completely and totally honest here. I never watched Naruto.

Now I'm more or less focusing on my Aura and Magical abilities.

They're coming along nicely. In fact, I believe I'm almost ready to move onto something else entirely for one sole reason.

The six eyes are fucking overpowered and are continuing to grow each and every day.

The sheer... precision... that I'm given. Not just with my magical energy, but my Aura control.

I'm still no closer to figuring out how silver eyes combines with them, though.

I can already hazard a guess that with them I'll be able to quite easily make some functioning light-dust. If what Glynda said about dust crystal creation is correct, at least.

I rein my perception back in, the world speeding back up as the elevator climbs higher and higher.

Eventually it slides to a halt, the doors in front of me slowly opening.

Cogs line the floor, covered by a platform of glass, I can hear quiet ticking like a clock or metronome filling the entire room.

Honestly, I don't understand how the man can stand that. That ticking would drive me crazy.

Speaking of the man in question, Ozpin sits at a large steampunk-esque desk, hands steepled in front of his face. Standing nearby is Glynda, looking over a clipboard, a small frown tugging at her lips.

What draws my attention are the two new figures, the first, a tall woman, a white cloak around her body, she gazes at me in surprise, eyebrows raised, there's a faint smile on her lips.

The other is a shorter girl, a red hooded cloak pulled up around her head, she seems to peer out from under it. I can't really get a good read on what she's thinking.

"Ah! Good, Noctus. I would like to introduce you to Summer Rose and her daughter, Ruby Rose."

"Oh! Hello." I wave. "It's a pleasure to meet the two of you."

"You're... here to teach me how to make use of my silver eyes, right?" I ask slowly.

"That is correct!" The older woman hums. "It is good to meet you, Noctus!"

"H-Hello." The girl that is more or less hiding behind her mother squeaks.

I step forwards, looking over the two and glancing back over to Ozpin. "So... when do we start?"

Summer clasps her hands together. "As soon as possible! Luckily the effects of Silver Eyes aren't truly that destructive to things that lack corruption of grimm or undeath. So we could reasonably help you anywhere!"

"The goal isn't to perfect your eyes, it's merely to get you used to using them. Perfecting them can come later. Beacon has classes for studying, understanding, and mastering your Mystic Eyes. One which I will be teaching starting next year."

She gestures to her hiding daughter. "Ruby's here to help! And to meet you as next year you are going to be placed on the same team."

"Oh? Oh!" I blink. "Right. It's a pleasure to meet you, then, Ruby. I hope we work well together."

"Y-Yeah." The girl mutters.

[Split]

"So, I just sort of focus on happy thoughts?"

"Yes, like the memory of a mother's love, or the friends you've made."

"I'm an amnesiac." I deadpan.

"Ah." Summer mutters. "Right... that might cause a few issues."

My gaze strays to Ruby. "Can you use the Silver Eyes?"

"M-Mhm." She nods quietly. "It-Its just a flicker, really, but I can do it pretty much whenever I want."

She touches her fingers together, seemingly wanting to ask something but deciding against it.

"I guess we'll just have to do this the hard way, then." Summer sighs as she leans on the teacher's desk of an empty classroom she commandeered. "Ozpin told me that you were quite precise with your magic. Can you feel magic in others?"

"Uh- maybe? I haven't really... tried? Can you activate your silver eyes? I think I've got something but they're not at full capacity and it kind of hurts to use them."

"Oh! Of course!" The woman smiles as with a flash streams of light flow from the corners of her eyes, flickering upwards as her eyes glow like she is possessed by some sort of higher power.

My eyes pale in coloration, the pupils disappearing, veins around my eyes throb painfully as the woman's body fades away, streams of light are left in her place. My perception slows as I take in the way her energy moves, then I shut my eyes, taking a breath with a slight headache, rubbing my eyes.

"Are you alright?" The woman asks slowly.

"My eyes are too strong for my body." I admit. "Using powers I'm not exactly trained in is kind of painful. But I'm adapting."

I open my eyes once more, a tomoe appearing around each pupil. "Alright. I'm actually kind of decent at this one even if it's only at a third power. Can you do it again?"

There's a flicker of light, then with another gentle 'fwoosh' lights shine in her eyes.

My sharingan slide across her body, taking over each and every part of her.

It fades after a moment. "Alright... let me try this..."

I close my eyes, taking a deep breath. I can feel my mana deep within my core slowly stirring. I inhale deeply, my breaths controlled and even.

I begin to think back to the fragments of my life before...

The faceless friends I had. The featureless figures who meant so much to me.

I slowly crack my eyes open.

Spark Spark Spark

Summer gives me a small golf clap with a bright smile. "Good job! You did it!"

"Hm?" I hum, looking to my hand. My mana sparks throughout my body, tinged with light.

I hold up a single finger. Aura crackling to life around the extended digit.

It goes from a deep silver to a bright white.

I hold up my other hand creating a simple ball of light. "Interesting... I can combine the holy element of the silver eyes with magic and even my aura."

"Wh- Your aura?!" Summer gasps, eyes widening. "Silver eyed warriors can unlock light magic, but making your aura 'light'?!"

"hmm..." I hum as I narrow my eyes slightly.

The glowing orb above my hand combusts, turning into a crackling white inferno. "Holyfire. Neat. Six Eyes are overpowered."

Summer's stunned expression slowly melts into a bright smile. "I look forwards to teaching you next year, Noctus!"

My money is on Yang or Coco getting bun in oven first, any takers?

Tyson Bailey

I think he will stay in Vale, but with the power of his eyes, he will be the Emperor of Vale, and all the fertile women of the world will seek to bear his children, kind of a Peter Grill scenario.

Tyson Bailey

And so, the breeding program commences.

Tyson Bailey

Kinda wondering if he has a "Mystic Eyes of Pregnancy" in his massive list of eye powers, it could potentially turn him into that meme of staring at girls to make them pregnant.

Ototsu_Yume

Burrito gave the Sharingan and Byakugan even more forms beyond the Rinnesharingan and Tenseigan called the Senrigan, that thing gives omnipotence and the capacity to rewrite history as the user sees fit even erasing the memories of those not meeting certain requirements from even being aware that changes were made. The power creep was so ridiculous that it can basically do everything every other eye power across other series can do.

Ototsu_Yume

Dude needs to get some Gai Sensei levels of self masochism going, as soon as he can wield the Mystic Eyes of Providence, Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, Senrigan or even it's lesser forms of Rinnegan, Rinnesharingan and Tenseigan he will be able to just nope everything out of existence since two of those are straight up reality manipulation to the point of pseudo-omnipotence which are also capable of rewriting history too.

Ototsu_Yume

Hes about to send his daughter to get pregnant on a gilded plater

Holosagewolf

I just realized that he could get Eyes of the Lord, which is Adam’s eyes from Record of Ragnarok. To prevent him from getting it too early, besides the fact of it being too powerful for his body to handle currently, he could have to go through all the evolutions of the Sharingan to be able to get it since it’s just a better version of the Sharingan? Since I doubt the Sharingan can react to basically a time stop attack. I believe someone suggested the same eyes before, but I’m not sure!

Astro_TGD

I mean six eyes being busted is kind of the default so I'm not surprised

Xero

Oh God, Noctus is going to get half the student body- no, half of Vale pregnant by the end of next year. Nice

Gerald Of Revea

I would like more of this.

Tftc, and huh...yandere hankering for you, yay? Also why does Jacques not read like as much of a bastard as canon!? The Legendary non dick Jacques!?!😮
