animal crossing outfit doodles

i drew a few outfits of catharsis characters in the animal crossing style with clothes from the game... this style emulation is fun because it's so limited. most of the characters are recolors of the same models.
i usually try to take examples of face or body shapes and textures seen in the canon into account and try to work with that, instead of just drawing chibis or simplified characters with no fingers.

for charlotte's, i used a hamster body type, because they're short and fatter. her ears are a lot taller than usual because that's just the style. in animal crossing, the cats are only shorthairs, so she was given a tail like in the wolf and horse models.

for felix, the most obvious limitation of the canon is that there are no crutches or amputees. i decided to just go simple and draw the crutches as simplified attachments to the hypothetical model's arms and leave the leg completely gone. their amputated tail uses the bear and bunny models' cotton ball tail. their facial structure uses the wolf models' stylization of fur on the body laid on top of the cat model's simple circular head. they keep the taller body proportions of the wolf.

izzi was the most challenging because the only reptile villager species is the alligator. i opted to use the model of frillard, from city folk, for her head. it's similar to the kappa species' head shape, but if i hadn't had it, i probably would have defaulted to making her more like an ostrich without a beak or feathers. her body is based on the horse's and ostrich's more neck-y proportions, and she also has the cotton ball tail structure. her teeth come from the teeth as shown on the alligator models.
