I'm sorry about the lack of content being posted recently. I've been jumping through some hoops to make sure I'm putting a proper amount of time into my RPG game and I haven't been able to set aside as much time for the comics. I feel like I am back in the swing of things here and I should be able to release my new comic soon.
And hopefully this game update is exciting for all of my supporters as well - the more I'm able to work on it, the closer I'll get to having some playtest versions posted here.
I've been doing a lot of behind the scenes work but my main focus has been on getting the "Gym" area of the game filled out. Although my goal is for the game to be open-world, allowing the player to travel to and from the various areas of the game as they please, the "Gym" area will be the area that the player is suggested to visit first.
Here, the player will meet the manager of the Gym (who is a tall, blonde, fitness babe) who he must defeat in order to progress the game's story. Of course, the player won't be able to walk up to her and challenge her immediately. He will need to complete a small side mission before he can take on the area boss.
"Beat 3 other girls in my gym before you can fight me" might be a cliche side mission but it makes sense for the first area. I don't plan on putting any complicated puzzles or long side quests for the player because the main goal of this game is to fight hot girls (and lose). Plus this way the player is forced to fight more girls before they can progress through the game.
As of now, I've created about 10 enemies (girls) that the player can fight in the gym area. There are no random encounters. The player gets to pick who he fights by walking up to them and talking to them. This way the player can take on a girl, get his butt kicked, and decide if he wants to challenge them again or if he wants to go fight a weaker girl first and get EXP.
The non-boss, or side characters will have varying degrees of depth. They might not have as many attacks or cutscenes as a boss, but some might have a special erotic attack up their sleeve, or an erotic finisher that occurs once the player is defeated. Ideally I would be able to make it so that a girl's defeat scene or dialogue changes based on how many times you've already lost to her. I believe this is a pretty common mechanic for this type of game.
For the most part, it will be clear which girls on the map the player can challenge. The challengeable girls will have a little combat icon hovering over their head so that the player knows he can approach them. But some girls will only be challengeable once certain conditions are met.
For example, the gymnast girl on the blue mat (two pictures up) is in a room that is locked until the player completes a different part of the game. Similarly, the cutscene with the two yoga girls is triggered by an event on the map. In this scene, the player is caught staring at the girls' butts, and is challenged to a fight as a consequence. After the event is triggered, the girls will get little combat icons over their heads and will become challengeable.
Some girls will have alternate forms depending on where/when you challenge them. Karla, pictured above, will fight you in her pink yoga pants if you challenge her in the gym...
...But if you walk in on her in the girl's locker room she will fight you half naked!
Ideally, I will be implementing a mechanic where the player's "arousal" increases more based on how revealing his opponent's outfit is. Ultimately "arousal" will be tied to negative status effects for the player, so fighting a girl half naked will actually be more challenging.
Again, not all non-bosses will have this level of depth. Some may not have any cutscenes at all, and might fight you with fairly standard attacks. But it is fun to implement special things like this for some of the girls.
I'm hoping to have a handful of areas in my game, each with their own boss characters and side characters. I'd like the type of girl you encounter in each area to be different (wardrobe, personality, etc.) so that the player has the opportunity to have a variety of different experiences with them.
