My mum for the past decade or so has been getting completely screwed over by the Doctor/Hospital/Medical system. Basically she should be dead 3 times over but managed to fight through all of everything going on with her, and when you have all the medical allergies she has as well as surviving through extremely edge cases that already almost never happen let alone have people survive, the doctors have no idea what to do with you. And when doctors have no idea what to do with you, they put you in designated "It's too complicated to bother helping" or "they could be faking it we don't know" groups, one of those groups being FND. Now most doctors seem to see the FND label and immediately translate that to "it's all in their head, they're placebo-ing medical conditions" and will sometimes even outright refuse to see you. My mum has joined some FND dedicated support groups and she very much understands why doctors do it, some of the most annoying perma-victim "woe is me" types, but even by the standards shown people diagnosed with FND she does not fit. She will end up with some of the best specialists in the region (around and in Brisbane currently) if not the state, but almost every time they won't even read her file and we assume it's just because they see the FND label, they'll prescribe meds that she's allergic to ALL the time and medical allergies are some of the first things to appear on your file. I appreciate all the praise given to doctors here, and would love to agree with everything said about them, but the amount of people we could potentially get stripped of their medical license due to neglect if not malpractice is so much higher than the amount we already have over like 12 years at this point. Some immigrants sure, some definitely some not immigrants though, and the best doctor she's had who keeps trying to help and honestly could be damaging his career prospects in doing so is an immigrant
