2025-07-20 07:29:08 +0000 UTCThe point of tension of whether or not the king was going to be Catholic was due to the existence of the Church of England (which the ruling monarch is the head of) and the fact that it is a protestant organisation created by Henry VIII in defiance of the Pope (basically so he could divorce his wives because they weren't bearing a male heir. So a Catholic being the head of a protestant organisation was a huge point of tension.
