The point of Jordan stating that today's poor live like previous kings, but that is due to, as MysterE pointed out, technology (and people's previous man hours). Tech can be developed thanks to ideas, and Ali is right, in that several dummies looking at the same problem can yield greater success than one technocrat. Us pov's can enjoy some modern conveniences due to tech diffusing through society over time, but when it gets so concentrated (increasingly so) in fewer hands, there will be less propensity of yesterday's innovations making its way to tomorows povo's lives. So to put it finely, inequality eventually does matter, with fewer dummies from the pov class get to participate in the innovation process, ingrained generational wealth as well as technological thinking constraining innovation.
