I get your point, you were right that Ukraine had an out but they didn't take it. I would say you were right that given the potential of having Trump gets in, Ukraine exhausted their luck. However, as a person who have families in Taiwan, you are asking an impossible task for Ukraine given the war crimes documented. It is way more sobering with the notion that Trump is just this disgusting with his self serving interests that they would let their allies be in such dire state.

Personally, I think America is fucked. If they unleash a trade war, they will lose and they will hurt American industries that rely on exports to flourish and stay profitable. Trump will isolate America for a generation.

We still have decent capabilities for small population. Our fleet of F-35s equiped with LRASM could potentially thwart any invasion of the main land. Amphibious assaults are a hard thing to accomplish.

I came of age during Gulf War 1 and watched the geopolitical bullshit that rolled on throughout the 90's, culminating in 9/11. Even then, while it was history making, you had the sense that the West would rally and things would balance out (Gulf War - The Sequel notwithstanding). I feel for the first time that the established order is collapsing. The world is spinning of its axis and the unknowns far outweigh the knowns. Trump is a fucking psychopath.
